We head to the east coast for tonight’s game. The Ottawa Senators head to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders. This will be the 3rd time they meet this season and split the previous 2.

New York is just returning home off a 3-game road sweep. They are 17-18-7 this season and come into this game on that 3-game winning streak. In their last 10 games, the Isles are 5-5-0 and are 7-9-2 at home.

Not sure where this play has come from, but I hope it stays. One thing to pay attention to is the Islander returned 3 key players in the past month, 2 being on offense. Mat Barzal has heated up over the last 5 games, recording a point in each game. Hopefully he can fire up their last place power play.

The defense welcomed Adam Pelech back as they wait for the return of Alexander Romanov. They haven’t been the best this year, but rank middle of the pack for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. This team needs to find a way to kill penalties, as they are the worst in the league.

Goalie Ilya Sorokin is due back in net tonight. He is coming off a much need a game off. His record is 13-13-4 with a 2.83 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Hopefully the much-needed rest has him back sharp as a knife.

Now let’s get into the Sens. They’re 21-18-3 this season and are 5th in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game on a 2-game win streak and are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

The Sens aren’t the greatest road team, with a 10-11-2 record. Offensively, they aren’t the worst. They put a lot of shots on goal per game, ranking 9th, but don’t make them count with a 9.8% shooting percentage. This teams gives as much as it takes, averaging 3 goals per game scored and allowed.

For the rest of the defense, they allow the 11st most shots on goal per game and are 18th for penalty kill. One of their weak points is that they commit a lot of penalties per game, which can always put you right behind.

Well, I’m backing my boys tonight. This is a good game for them to keep it going at home. They need to start playing better at home and finally winning games should fill the seats.

The Islanders finally started scoring in these last 3 games. They only had 2 last games, but 4 and 5 in the 2 previous games. This needs to continue for the Islanders. The Sens allow almost 3 goals per game and the Islanders will need around 4. This also makes me lean the over with the 5.5 total

Ottawa commits a lot of penalties, ranking 22nd in the league. This could be huge for the Islanders, but their power play is worst in the league. If they can even capitalize on 1, it could make the difference in the game. They should get 2-3 power play chances.

I like for Sorokin to get over his saves line. He has faced over 30 shots in his last 3 games played, having 29, 26 and 30 saves. His line should be around 28 and I will be taking that to the bank.
