Two of the original six team’s faceoff tonight. The New York Rangers will take on the Chicago Blackhawks are the United Center. It’s the first of two games that they’ll play this season.
New York is 15-12-4 to start the year and are fifth in the Metro Division. They come into this game on a two-game losing streak after a loss to Knights in overtime on Sunday. The Rangers are 5-3-2 in their last ten games but are 12-4-1 on the road.
They’ll look to keep things rolling on the road even though the offense has been spotty. New York ranks in the bottom of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Their power play is as the kids would say “mid”, ranking sixteenth in the league.
Things aren’t much better on defense, ranking in the bottom for shots on goal allowed per game and penalty kill. Goaltending has been solid, ranking sixth best for goals allowed per game. Goalie Igor Shesterkin is expected in net. He is 12-9-3 this year with a 2.46 GAA and a .913 save percentage.

Chicago will try to break two-game losing streak at home tonight

Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard high fives teammates after scoring a goal.
The Blackhawks are 12-11-6 to start and fifth in the Central Division. They come into this game on a two-game losing streak after a bad loss to the Ducks on Sunday. Chicago is 2-6-2 in their last ten games and 6-5-3 at home.
This young squad is starting to come together although they have plenty of time. Former number one pick Connor Bedard is shining in his third career season. With only 29 games player, he has 40 points and ended last year with 67 points in 82 games played.
Bedard is turning into everything they wanted and more. Guys like Tyler Bertuzzi and Frank Nazar follow Bedard as big pieces of this offense. Scooping up Andre Burakovsky and Teuvo Teravainen adds some nice veteran leadership.
We are expected to see Spencer Knight in net. He is 9-6-5 this season with a 2.62 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Rangers vs Blackhawks picks.

New York has been dangerous on the road, and I think they continue it. It’ll be interesting to see if the Blackhawks can rebound after getting slaughtered by the Ducks. Having to go up against the road warrior Rangers right now doesn’t help.
The Blackhawks technically are the better team on paper, but the experience is on the Rangers side. Goals allowed is the biggest difference between the two teams and that’s in favor of New York. Shesterkin is 4-1-0 in his last five games vs. Chicago with a 2.00 GAA and a .936 save percentage.
A sneaky play I like is Alexis Lafreniere to get 2 or more shots on goal for -128. They’re giving good value for only 2 shots when it could be 3. He’s hit the mark in his last four game and five out of six games.
Give me Spencer Knight to record over his saves line. It’s probably going to be 26-27 saves as he’s landed on 26 in his last two outings. I think we’ll get a good price here and the Rangers get shots up with the weak Blackhawks defense that allow over 30 shots on goal per game.
