We had a hell of a game to open this series. What a comeback by the Avalanche to steal Game 1 in Dallas. The Stars came out to a commanding 3 goal lead and the Avs erased it followed by an OT win.

Even though they lost, Dallas looked great to start the game. Scoring 3 goals in the 1st is always a great start, but then you can’t go missing. They didn’t play a complete game and got comfortable which cost them the game.

The Stars need to play better on the power play. Going 1 for 4 in Game 1 is not going to get them anywhere when the Avalanche are perfect on the power play.

Goalie Jake Oettinger need some help on defense. Allowing 4 goals to the Avalanche per game is going to put a lot of pressure on the offense and you can’t play that way.

Dallas is going to have to make a turn around to win a crucial Game 2 at home.

Can Colorado carry the momentum into Game 2 to go up 2-0 in the series?

The Avs did everything right in most of Game 1. They came out extremely flat and lost in the 1st period, but that’s why they play 3. This game did need some bonus time to finish as well.

All of Colorado’s stars came to play in Game 1. Expect them all to be firing and ready to go for Game 2 as well. This Avalanche offense is so deadly that you can’t even go up 3 goals and be safe.

I don’t see Colorado changing anything from Game 1 other than the way they started. Dallas will be hungry, and the crowd will be roaring, so going down 3 goals in the 1st is not a good idea.

Goalie Alexander Georgiev was completely solid after the 1st period. It was an odd start for him, but he rebounded and that’s all that matters. Look for him to be a problem for the Stars again in Game 2.

Game 2 at home down in the series is huge. Might as well be backs against the wall. Dallas can beat this Colorado team, but they have to play a complete game.

I think they come out hot like they did in Game 1, but actually play some defense and a full game. If they do, they can absolutely win this game and again, they need to.

Jake Oettinger needs to expect to get peppered but will just need some help from his defense to withstand it. The Stars showed they can score goals in Game 1, so that’s not their issue.

As a nugget for this game, I like the game total over 6.5. Last game it soared, and I think we see it happen again as both teams know how to get to each goalie.
