We have a good game on our hands to end today’s slate. The Florida Panthers will take on the Los Angeles Kings tonight at the Crypto.com Arena. This will be the Kings 2nd game back home since the devastating wildfires that ripped through LA.

Florida is 27-17-3 this season and 2nd in the Atlantic Division. They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and are decent on the road with a 14-8-1 record. This will be the 1st time this season these 2 teams play each other.

This is the 2nd game of a 4 game West Coast road trip and the 2nd game of a back-to-back. The Panthers offense is extremely talented, and they’ve been putting up the numbers. They rank 9th in goals scored and 3rd in shots on goal per game. On special teams, they rank 8th in power play conversion, but 16th for penalty kill on defense.

Just like the penalty kill, the rest of their defense is middle of the road. They rank 17th for goals allowed and 11th for shots on goal allowed per game. Goalie Spencer Knight is expected in net tonight. He has a 9-6-1 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

Los Angeles is 25-14-5 on the year and 3rd in the Pacific Division. They are on a 2-game losing streak and are 6-4-0 on their last 10 games. This team is extremely good at home with a 14-3-1 record.

This Kings offense last year was one of the best in the league and this year they are just not. It’s crazy how good they are with an offense that is rather weak. They rank 19th in goals scored and 25th in shots on goal allowed per game. Their power play is terrible too, ranking 4th worst in the league.

Defense is where they make up for these things. They are 3rd best in the league for goals allowed and 1st in the league for shots on goal allowed per game. The Kings smother the crap out of you and force you to make bad passes or shots. Their penalty kill ranks 7th in the league and that is huge.

Goalie Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the start tonight. He is 13-4-5 this season with a 2.10 GAA and a .920 save percentage. I expect Kuemper to see a lot of shots tonight, but we’ll get into that. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

The Kings need a bounce back and I think this a great spot for it. They love to play at home and with a little bit of a heavy heart, the crowd should be nutty. This is a perfect time for them to get back in the win column.

Don’t get me wrong, the defending cup champs won’t be an easy task. This Kings defense is not one to be messed with though. As long as they can slow the Panthers down, so Kuemper doesn’t face a million shots, then they should have a chance.

I think the Kings offense can get to Knight. If they can score early to knock some wind out of the Panthers sails, then they will also get in his head. Guys like Kempe and Fiala should be firing the puck as well.

For a prop, I like for Fiala to record 4+ shots on goal. The man is hot as the son right now and hit the line in 5 out of his last 6 games, including a 10 shot on goal game. Adrian Kempe has been on a scoring spree and I like his anytime goal as well.
