We head to the world’s most famous arena for tonight’s faceoff. The Edmonton Oilers will be in town to take on the New York Rangers. It’ll be the first time of two meetings these two play each other this season.
New York is 2-2-0 to start off and come into this game off a loss on Sunday. They played the Washington Capitals and lost by a final score of 1-0. The Rangers had scored 6 goals the game previous and almost were due for a goose egg.
Although they lost, it wasn’t a terrible game for NY. They outshot the Capitals by 14 shots and won more than half the faceoffs. Both penalty kills were on point as there were no power play goals out of three combined chances.
Goalie Jonathan Quick made his first start of the season and stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced. He couldn’t get any support on offense but looked good otherwise. Igor Shesterkin is slated to be the starter for tonight’s game vs. the Oilers.

Edmonton looks to shine under bright lights and get second win

Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl and Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck fight for possession of the puck.
The Oilers are 1-0-1 to start the year and come into this game off a win over the Canucks on Saturday. It was a nice home win after losing the home opener in overtime to the Flames. Tonight starts their Metro Division road trip.
Edmonton looked great on Saturday, never trailing in the game. They started off slow and got two in the back of the net in the second period. The Oilers allowed one goal in the third, but Leon Draisaitl hit the empty netter to seal it.
Firing the puck was the main objective for the Oilers and they succeeded. They put up 37 shots in total as well as holding the Canucks to only 15 shots. Edmonton needs to work on the power play though because going 0-5 is not a good look with this kind of lineup.
I imagine we see the stars shine bright under the big lights. McDavid has 6 goals and 10 assists in his last 10 games vs. the Rangers, including a goal last time he played at MSG. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Oilers vs Rangers picks.

I’m taking the away team here looking to keep the momentum going. McDavid should have a big game and it’s going to be hard for NY to stop him. If he gets going along with Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent Hopkins, then it’s game over for the Rangers.
The defense the Oilers showed last game was tough and they need it again. It’s going to be hard to keep the Rangers to only 15 shots but keep the count as low as possible will be key. Getting out to an early lead, possibly on a power play, is also going to be a key for Edmonton. A sharp power play will do damage as well.
Give me Adam Fox to get 2 or more shots on goal for -135. He has hit in his last three games and heating up. Fox is leading the team in points right now and is their top defenseman. He’s going to quarterback the power play from the top of the blue line as they say.
I also like for Connor McDavid to record an assist. He has three on the year already and is an assists machine. If the line if super juiced when it comes out, then take him for 2 or more assists. There’s going to be goals and he’s going to be heavily involved.
