NHL: Leafs vs. Red Wings Picks and Odds, October 11, 2025

We head to Detroit for an Atlantic Division matchup. The Toronto Maple Leafs will be in town to take on the Red Wings. This will be the first of many matchups between the two this season.

Toronto has started off the season with a win in their first game. They beat the Canadiens on Wednesday by a score of 5-2. Goalie Anthony Stolarz had a great start, saving 29 of the 31 shots he faced.

The Leafs started off the scoring right away with a goal by Bobby McMann just one minute into the game. Montreal came back with a first period goal as well and both teams knotted things up at 2 apiece after two periods.

During the 3rd period, it was all Toronto. They scored about halfway through the period to take a 3-2 lead. Auston Matthews and William Nylander netted empty net goals to seal the deal. Toronto will look to build off this win tonight.

Detroit looks to get first win of the season tonight at home

The Red Wings took on the Canadiens as well for their first game but didn’t have the same result as the Leafs. Montreal beat the Wings by a final score of 5-1. The Wings outperformed the Habs all around, but goalie John Gibson was Swiss cheese

Gibson allowed 5 goals on only 13 total shots, ending with only 8 saves. The Wings had over 30 shots but couldn’t find the back of the net against Jakub Dobes. Detroit looked good on offense but will need to get more crafty tonight.

Dylan Larkin started off the scoring with a power play goal 3:50 into the game. From there, Dobes became a brick wall. Detroit will need to do better on the power play as they only wen 1-4 vs. the Habs.

I like for the Leafs to get the win. I think they looked good in their first game and can keep the ball rolling. They have the momentum after a solid first win and look to dominate the Atlantic again this year.

The Wings will need to get passed Stolarz who I think will continue his solid play. I think he’s off to a great start and could have a really good season, which would be huge for the Leafs. If Detroit can shoot the puck a lot again, it will of course be their best chance to compete.

On that note, we’re taking Stolarz to get 26 or more saves for -106. Again, going off his last play and also how the Wings shot in their first game. We should see an action packed, high offense game where Stolarz covers this again.

The other play I like is Dylan Larkin to record 3 or more shots on goal for -132. A little juicy, but still playable for the captain of this team. Larkin had 5 shots on goal last game, and I expect him to keep firing all game.
