We’re going to Long Island and headed to UBS Arena. The Seattle Kraken are in town to take on the New York Islanders. This is the first of two matchups between these two teams this season.
New York is 12-8-2 to start the year and third in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Blues yesterday by a score of 2-1. The Islanders are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and 4-4-1 at home.
It was the first home game for New York in seven games after a 6-1 road trip. I thought it would’ve been a great spot for them to get another win vs. a weak Blues team, but they came out flat. The Islanders had no offense all game and need to adjust for this game.
The offense has been decent, ranking seventh in goals scored and twelfth in shots on goal per game. Defensively they rank seventeenth in goals allowed and twenty second in shots on goal allowed per game. All areas that need to be worked on, especially their power play and penalty kick.
Goalie David Rittich is expected to get the start. He is 5-2-0 this season with a 2.99 GAA and a .896 save percentage. Rittich has shown to be a nice pick up and back up for Ilya Sorokin who will rest after starting yesterday.

Seattle will try to slow New York down and sneak out a win

Kraken goalie Philipp Grubauer and forward Matty Beniers celebrate after a win.
The Kraken are 11-5-5 this season and fourth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off an over time win over the Penguins last night. Seattle is 6-3-1 in their last ten games and 5-4-2 on the road this year.
It’s been a slow start on paper for the Kraken even though they’re finding ways to win. They’re ranking in the bottom of the league for both goals scored and shots on goal per game. Seattle’s power play is eighteenth in the league, but their penalty kill is third worst.
They do play a better game on defense. The Kraken rank sixth in goals allowed and thirteenth in shots on goal allowed per game. As good as the defense has been, the guys between the pipes have been playing really well.
We’re expected to see goalie Joey Daccord this evening. He is 7-3-3 this season with a 2.78 GAA and a .900 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Kraken vs. Islanders picks.

I like this bounce back spot for the Islanders. After yesterday’s poor performance, this is a perfect time to turn the tide at home. I know I said that yesterday, but now they really should be hungry for the win.
It’s another home coming for Kraken winger Jordan Eberle. He’s always someone to watch, but guys like Matthew Schaefer now on D can make his life hell. I think the Islanders can hold down the weak Seattle offense and get this win as well.
Give me Joey Daccord over his save line. It’ll probably be around 25 saves, and I think the Islanders put up over 30 like yesterday. We should see this line at decent value as well, probably dropping around -120.
Another play I like is Bo Horvat to get 3 or more shots on goal. It may be juicy, but we’re already paying the juice man with the moneyline. He has hit in three of his last four games and is also the league’s leading goal scorer, so worth the sprinkle as well.
