We head to the Twin Cities for tonight’s matchup. The Los Angeles Kings will take on the Minnesota Wild at Grand Casino Arena. Both teams come into this game off a loss and looking for a win.
Los Angeles is 1-2-0 so far to start and just lost to the Jets on Saturday. The final score was 3-2 after the Kings couldn’t get another one by goalie Connor Hellebuyck. They did face last year’s best goalie and league MVP if it’s any consolation.
Alex Iafallo continues to show what a pickup he was from LA in the Dubois trade as he scored the first goal. Defenseman Mikey Anderson scored in the first minute of the second period followed by a goal from Adrian Kempe. Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele scored the next two goals to win it for the Jets.
Looks like Darcy Kuemper will get the start again and look for his first win. He is 0-2-0 so far with a 3.62 GAA and a .860 save percentage. Minnesota has some shooters thought, so it will be no walk in the park.

Minnesota looks for bounce back spot after loss to Columbus

Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek get tied up with Kings forward Anze Kopitar in front of the net.
The Wild are 1-1-0 to start and come into this game off a loss to the Jackets on Saturday. The final score was 7-4 and they had no answer until the 3rd period, but it wasn’t enough. Columbus scored 4 goals in the third period.
Kirill Kaprisov finally got on the board and scored 2 goals. He also had an assist after having 3 assists in his first game of the season. The highest paid player in the league is exciting to watch and it’s going to be interesting to see how his game evolves more.
They need to find the back of the net more when they’re putting up 50+ shots. Minnesota absolutely fired the puck against Columbus, and it was impressive for them to hold the Wild to only four goals.
Filip Gustavsson had a rough outing and is likely to start again tonight. He needs to play better and would give the Wild a much better chance at winning this game. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Kings vs. Wild picks.

Both teams are kind of in a bounce back spot, but I like the Kings here. They were a great road team in the past, and I think they still have it in them. LA matches up well against the Wild as well and it could come down to goaltending.
I like for Adrian Kempe and Kevin Fiala to get things cookie. They need to get on the board first to make Minnesota play catch up. In the process, they should be able to extend that lead while holding the Wild back a bit.
Give me Kempe to get 4 or more shots on goal for probably a little plus money. He’s coming off two games of hitting the line with 4 and 6 shots on goal. This is a great game for him to move around with his speed and fire the puck in the process.
I like for Darcy Kuemper to get peppered. His saves line should be around 28 and we’ll be taking that. The Wild are averaging 37 shots per game in their first two games, so I expect that to keep up. This could be a free one if things play out the way I think it will.
