We head to the west coast for a battle in the bay area. The Winnipeg Jets will take on the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose. This will be the first of three matchups between the two teams this year.
Winnipeg is 9-4-0 so far and second in the Central Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Kings on Tuesday where they were shutout. The Jets are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and are 4-1-0 on the road this season.
Mark Scheifele is leading the way for the Jets. He leads the team in all offensive categories – goals, assists and points. Scheifele has 34 shots on goal and a +/- of 7. Kyle Connor isn’t off to a bad start with 8 goals and 9 assists.
Gabe Vilardi and Josh Morrissey are both stepping up on offense. Vilardi had a very solid season last year and Morrissey is the team’s best defenseman. Both are trying to help fill the void of Nikolaj Ehlers leaving in the offseason.
Goalie and Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck is expected to get the start. He is 6-4-0 to start the season with a 2.32 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Hellebuyck isn’t off to as good of a start as last season, but there is plenty of time to get right.

San Jose will look to build off Wednesday’s win over Seattle

Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini skates to the puck to make a play.
The Sharks are 5-6-3 this season and are 7th in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a win over the Kraken on Wednesday night. San Jose is 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 2-3-3 at home this year.
Macklin Celebrini is off to a great start in his sophomore season. He leads the team in all offensive categories – goals, assists and points. The kid put up 13 points over seven straight games. He has really found himself still at the beginning of his career.
Those three overtime loses could haunt them down the road if they make a run. They need to finish games if they want to be successful this season and have to start early. San Jose is averaging over three goals scored per game, so they need to tighten up that defense.
Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov is expected to get the start. He is 3-4-1 this season with a 3.88 GAA and a .879 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Jets vs. Sharks picks.

Give me the goals. We have two teams averaging just about three and a half goals scored per games with two goals who have been leaky. I think the Sharks get two or three passed Hellebuyck while the Jets score four or give.
The Sharks goalie has been more than just leaky, and the Jets offense is powerful. San Jose is committing about four penalties per game, and Winnipeg ranks tenth on the power play. We should see a few goals just from that alone.
Both the teams rank in the top five of the league in shooting percentage, so the shots we see should be quality. I like for Celebrini to stay hot. He should get his 3 or more shots on goal after missing his last two games. Also sprinkle him for two or more points. He has three points in two games vs. the Jets.
I also like Mark Scheifele to score which will be probably around +150. He has a goal in his last two games vs. the Sharks and hasn’t scored in his last two games, so this is a great spot for him. You can also sprinkle his two or more points for plus money.
