Carolina came into Washington and stole Game 1 from the Capitals. We head back to the Capital One Arena for Game 2 of the Hurricanes vs Capitals series. Washington playing a must win game here as you cannot lost both home games in the playoffs.
Washington was the best team in the Eastern Conference this season. They handled the Canadiens well in the 1st round, winning the series in 5 games. That aside, Game 1 vs the Canes showed how this is going to be a hard-fought series.
The Capitals offense was nowhere to be found last game. They put up the 1st goal of the game just about 4 minutes into the 2nd period, but that was it. For a team that averaged almost 28 shots on goal per game, they only put up 14 shots in Game 1.
Even though they lost, Logan Thompson looked really good, stopping 31 of the 33 shots he faced. The Canes defense just completely shut down this Capitals offense, which they are known to do. Washington will look to bounce back and tie this series at 1 game apiece.
Hurricanes riding the high after stealing Game 1 on the road

Carolina Hurricanes center Logan Stankoven high fives his teammates after scoring the game tying goal.
The Canes have been quietly killing it this year. They stayed right behind the Caps in the Metro and had no problem with the Devils in the 1st round. Carolina has been here before, contending almost every year.
Guys like Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, and Andrei Svechnikov have been on this team for years and are hungry for a cup. They always seem to play well in the 1st two rounds of the playoffs but hit a roadblock. Maybe not this year.
Goalie Frederik Andersen will be in between the pipes again. Washington hopes to see him way busier than Game 1 after only 14 shots on goal. Andersen has only allowed 1 goal per game in 4 of this last 5 starts, so he’ll be trying to keep that going. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I’m going with the Capitals for the bounce back spot. Not only is it a good get back spot because they’re home, but they also have to win. They cannot go to Carolina down 2-0 with that kind of weight on their shoulders.
Last game was a grind fest. Each team held the other one down, but the Canes held the Caps offense down more. As long as the Caps can get back just some of their offense than they should be able to pull this game out.
For some props, I like for Logan Stankoven to record 2 or more shots on goal. He has hit the mark in his last 3 games vs Washington, and he hit in 5 out of his last 6 games. It’s extremely juiced, so pair it with Seth Jarvis to record a point. Jarvis had 5 points in 3 games vs the Canes this season.
