We have two of the top teams in the league taking the ice tonight. The Anaheim Ducks will take on the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena. This is the first of three meetings between the two this season.
Colorado is 10-1-5 to start off and first in the Central Division. They come into this game on a three-game winning streak after an overtime win over the Canucks on Sunday. The Avs are 5-1-4 in their last ten games and 4-0-2 at home so far.
This team’s offense is stacked and firing on all cylinders. They currently rank second in goals scored and first in shots on goal per game. Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar have been fully delivering to start the season. MacKinnon has 29 points, and Makar has 22 points already.
The Avalanche defense has been rock solid and could be the difference in this game. They rank second in goals allowed and sixth in shots on goal allowed per game. Colorado’s only committing around four penalties per game and are killing off 88% of them.
Goalie Scott Wedgewood is expected to get the start. He’s been great with a 9-1-2 record, 2.36 GAA and a .906 save percentage. This game will be different as the Avs are about to face one of the best offenses in the league in the Ducks.

Anaheim looks to make it 8 in a row vs. Colorado tonight on the road

Ducks forward Mason McTavish high fives his teammates on the bench after scoring a goal.
Hockey’s hottest and most surprising team plays tonight. And yes, it’s the Anaheim Ducks. They are 11-3-1 to start this year and first in the Pacific Division. The Ducks come into the game on a seven-game winning streak and are 6-2-1 on the road.
This young squad has been killing it to start. They lead the league in goals scored and are forth in shots on goal per game. Anaheim also has the second-best shooting percentage in the league. Young guns Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier are leading the way for this fun team.
Defense has been a little bit on the weaker side, so the Ducks will need to step it up tonight. They rank fifteenth in goals allowed and twenty fifth in shots on goal allowed per game. Anaheim commits over five penalties per game and only kills of 76.5% of them.
In net, we’re expected to see Lukas Dostal tonight. He’s 8-3-1 this season with a 2.66 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Dostal will be extremely tested tonight vs. this Colorado offense. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Ducks vs. Avalanche picks.

This should be a great matchup with these two ridiculously high-powered offenses. I’m going with the over in this game even though we’re seeing good goaltending. I think the offenses get the best of these goaltenders for once.
Both teams are clicking like crazy. Colorado definitely has the edge with not only being home but having a much better defense. I still think Anaheim scores a few, but the Avs defense should be the X factor of this game.
Give me Nathan Mackinnon all day long. His history vs. the Ducks is incredible and gives so many options to play. We’ll be taking his anytime goal for +100 and 2 or more points for probably around -125. I also like him to get 5 or more shots on goal for +112. He’s hit in three out of his last four games vs. them.
Another play I like is Leo Carlsson for 2 or more points. The kid has been playing out of his mind with 2 or more points in his last four games and in his last six out of seven games. Carlsson is having his coming party in his second season.
