Another Metro Division showdown between the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders. Both teams are coming into this game on a 2-game winning streak and a day’s rest. The Islanders haven’t had as hot of a start as the Devils though.

New Jersey is off and running this season. They’re 9-5-2 so far this season and sit 2nd in the Metro Division. Captain Nico Hischier leads the team with 10 goals on the year and 16 points total.

Offensively, this team is firing on all cylinders. They have 6 players with double digit point totals already. Jesper Bratt leads the team with 18 points and also with 13 assists. Newcomer Stefan Noesen is showing his worth with 13 points.

The Devils are 5-3-0 on the road so far, but playing on Long Island might as well be a home game. Not a far distance for their fans to travel to see them play. On defense, the Devils have been holding it down, only allowing 2.81 goals and 27.6 shots on goal per game. Ranking in the top 10 of the league for both.

The Devils have been buzzing lately, but they have a tough task with Sorokin in net. Sorokin’s 2.36 GAA should come to light tonight as long as he gets the protection he needs. Markstrom’s 2.65 GAA is also very attractive vs a team who can’t score.

New York’s scoring woes are part of this pick as well. They’re lucky to find the back on the next twice in 1 game, but I also don’t see Sorokin allowing 5 goals. The chance of a 3-1 or 4-1 game is very possible.

Bratt, Hischier and Hughes have all been on fire and will do their best to move the puck away from the Islanders. One of the three of them will score – just not sure who. I like Jack Huges to get another assist for -104. he has 10 on the year so far.

Markstrom to record over his saves line will be nice too. The line should be set somewhere around 27-28 saves and the Islanders are averaging way over 30 shots on goal per game.
