A battle in the Metro Division tonight and we got you covered. The New Jersey Devils will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Both teams come into this game off their first win of the season.

New Jersey is 1-1-0 to start and just played a great game vs. the Lightning on Saturday. They won the game 5-3 where they faced Andrei Vasilevskiy as well. Putting up a ton of shots on him worked, getting 5 of their 29 shots passed him.

The Devils got out to a 3-0 lead right in the first period with goals from Meier, Hischier and newly added Connor Brown. It was all three guys first goal of the season which is always nice to see. Brown comes over after two seasons with the Oilers where he is a great depth piece as he scored another goal.

Goalie Jacob Markstrom got the win on Saturday. He saved 14 of the 17 shots he faced for his first win of the season. New Jersey’s defense was on point to support Markstrom, who is expected to start tonight as well.

Columbus will look to build off first win in home opener

The Jackets are 1-1-0 as well and had a huge win on Saturday vs. the Wild. Columbus netted seven goals, and it was on the road. Minnesota goalie Filip Gustavsson faced only 31 shots and allowed 6 goals before being pulled.

Columbus goalie Elvis Merzlikins, who got the win, faced 52 shots and allowed only 4 goals. The Jackets didn’t play smart hockey and committed 7 penalties. The Wild converted on the power play four times. These are the things the Jackets needs to fix.

In the win, Kirill Marchenko had a hat trick and goals from Werenski, Fantilli and Jenner. Good to see these guys getting on the score board to build some momentum on offense.

Both teams score a ton of goals on Saturday which makes me the under for the game, but that’s not the official play. We’re taking the Devils on the moneyline tonight. They looked great against a tough Tampa team and will carry some momentum.

Columbus shoots a lot, so the Devils will need to try and contain that while creating offensive opportunities. Jack Hughes is due to have a big game as he’s been quiet. Guys like Jesper Bratt and Nico Hischier will look to keep jiving and getting points.

New Jersey is the better team on paper, and I think they get the best of Merzlikins. I like for Merzlikins to get over his saves line. It should be around 26-28 saves and the Devils should have 30 or more shots.

I also like Jack Hughes to fire the puck. His line will probably be 4 or more for plus money and we’re taking it. He just had 7 in his last game vs the Lightning. The kid is due to break out, so sprinkle his anytime goal as well.
