The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers compete in Game 4 tonight of the Western Conference Finals. Last night the Carolina Hurricanes were able to extend their series in the East with the Florida Panthers, but tonight in the West, the Stars look to even things up on the road.
After beating Edmonton in Game 1 thanks to a five goal third period, the Stars have been taken down twice. They were shutout at home in Game 2 in Dallas before heading up to Canada for Game 3. Things did not go well for Dallas.
The Oilers jumped out to a two goal lead, with Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid netting goals just 36 seconds apart. Late in the second period, Jason Robertson netted his first goal of the postseason to get things within one, but McDavid found another with 19 seconds left to extend their lead back to two. That’s when the onslaught really happened.
The Oilers connected for three goals in the third period. Two came from Zach Hyman, while John Klingberg added one more late on a power play to seal a 6-1 win. Will the Oilers’ domination continue? Or can the Stars win this game before heading back to Texas?

We’ve seen nine periods of action between these two teams this series. And quite frankly, the Oilers have looked better in 8/9 frames. They led by two heading into the third period of Game 1, but allowed five goals, three on the power play, to lose in Texas. Since then, they have outscored the Stars 9-1 and they’ve found the back of the net on 2/8 power plays, while killing all four of their penalties.
Plain and simple, aside from the third frame in Game 1, this series has been all Oilers. I don’t see things changing tonight.

Give me Edmonton by a TON tonight. At home, they are much more comfortable, plus they are the better, faster, stronger team. The Oilers dare teams to keep up with them, playing aggressive and attacking at will. They only took 24 SOGs last game, but that was enough to get six by Jake Oettinger.
As for Stuart Skinner, the man has stopped 58/59 in his last two starts, and historically he plays better later in the series. Edmonton is streaky, they are catching fire, and again, they dominated 90% of this series. I trust the Oilers at home to keep playing aggressive and make the Stars uncomfortable up north. I think we see a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, the way both Edmonton and Florida are playing.
Tonight, give me the Oilers by two, but in regulation wouldn’t be a terrible play either for even money.
