We’re going to our friends up north for tonight’s matchup. The Montreal Canadiens will head west to take on the Calgary Flames. This is the first of two meetings between these two teams this season.
The Montreal Canadiens are 5-2-0 to start the season and cruising. They come into this game off a win over the Sabres on Monday night. The Habs are 2-1-0 on the road this season and will look to get their sixth win of the season.
In their last game, the Canadiens put up four goals vs. the Sabres. They got out to an early lead with a first period goal, but the scored was 1-1 after two periods. The action came in the third period where Juraj Slafkovsky took the lead back right away and the Habs took the game.
Goalie Jakub Dobes saved 30 out of the 32 shots he faced in that game. It was his third win of the season to bring him to a 3-0-0 record. Backup Sam Montembeault is expected to get the start tonight. He is 2-2-0 so far with a 3.26 GAA and a .857 save percentage.

Struggling Flames look to get their second win of the season

Flames goalie Dustin Wolf celebrates with teammates after a win.
Calgary is 1-6-0 so far this year and can’t manage to find wins. They won their first game of the season and have proceeded to lose the next six straight. Their most recent loss was to the Jets on Monday.
They played semi decent, holding the score to only 2-1, but the team needs to find the back of the net. They outshot Montreal 33-27 but went 0-5 on the power play. In this game they defended their goalie, but they’ve had trouble in previous ones.
On defense, they’re allowing the third most goals allowed per game and rank 21st in shots on goal allowed per game. Calgary’s killing off only 75% on their penalties and are committing over six penalties per game.
Goalie Dustin Wolf is expected to start. He’s 1-5-0 this season and off to a rough start. Wolf has a 3.91 GAA and a .867 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and check out the Canadiens vs. Flames picks.

I like the Canadiens a lot here. This is a great spot for them to keep it going and still be north of the border. We should see a lot of goals in this game too. Both goalies are allowing goals and the Habs could put up plenty.
Wolf is hit or miss. He looked good last game but didn’t get goal support. This will be a good test for the Habs to get passed him. Unfortunately for Wolf, I think the Habs smoke his ass.
One play I like is Lane Hutson for 2 or more shots on goal for +122. He has hit in his last games and even scored in his last game. The kid is the defending Calder winner and looking to build on last season’s success.
The other play I’m taking is Nazmi Kadri for 3 or more shots on goal for -122. He’s hit in his last two games as well and starting to come to form. He still has yet to get one in the net, so I expect him to be firing.
