Well Tuesday stung. We had a dreaded reverse sweep, as nothing seemed to go our way in the NHL slate. It’s two months in and you can see some of the big names slowing down, teams who started hot cooling down (besides the Avalanche, my goodness) and some players looking to recharge to hit the half-way point and Olympics hard. So today we are going to dig for some overlooked props at nice value. Zag a little, if you will. As always, we will grab the NHL best bet value plays and weave our way through this tasty slate to find some of the best NHL player props of the day. We need a bounce back to help the 16-23 record on the articles.
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all playoffs long! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. 1. Jordan Kyrou o2.5 SOG +105 on BetOnline:

Yes, Kyrou has only hit in 5 of his last 10 games. But that is exactly why we get his 2.5 SOG prop at plus money tonight. He just went off on a 4 SOG and 10 shot attempt performance, and will now take on the Boston Bruins who are allowing the most shots against in the league over the last 10 games. Could this be a trap? I don’t think so, and instead I think it is one of the NHL best bets of the night.
Even in a streaky year, the underlying shot volume is there: This season, Kyrou has 66 shots in 26 games, which works out to 2.54 shots on goal per game. Over his last 10 games, he’s put 28 shots on goal — 2.8 per game, already above a 2.5 line. That recent stretch includes some clear ceiling games: for example, he’s had big shot nights like 5 SOG vs. Philadelphia (Nov. 14) and 6 SOG vs. Toronto (Nov. 18), showing he can spike well past this number when he’s on the front foot.
This isn’t your classic suffocating Bruins defensive team. In 2025–26, Boston is allowing 30.68 shots on goal per game, bottom-third in the league and notably worse than their old defensive standard. A recent breakdown from NBC Sports Boston notes that the Bruins have allowed: Most shot attempts at even strength in the league, fifth-most shots on net, plus one of the highest totals of scoring chances and high-danger chances allowed.
The icing on the cake is that Kyrou has had a ton of success against Boton in the past. He’s hit in 5 of his last 6 matches against them, averaging 5.8 shot attempts and with three games at 4+ SOG. Add it all up to see why this is an NHL best bet tonight.
2. Tyler Bertuzzi Point -120 on BetOnline:
Bertuzzi may be having a career year in Chicago
It’s a Connor Bedard world, and we are just living in it. And Tyler Bertuzzi may be one of the biggest beneficiaries of these. He is having what could be a career year this season, racking up points. And his recent 10 game stretch has been incredible. He has 13 points over the last 10 games, and tonight he will get one of his favorite opponents, the Los Angeles Kings.
The Kings’ defense has shown vulnerability this season: their team is allowing nearly 27–28 shots against per game. They’re also conceding a relatively high goals-against rate — about 2.6 goals per game over 2025–26. This is a team who has been much better on the road. Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks offense is 2nd if goals for per game played while playing on the road. This is a great correlation for the Blackhawks to get a couple in net.
While he isn’t on the top line with Bedard, this helps him and Frank Nazar (also red hot) to get better matchups, while top lines try to slow down Connor Bedard. Bertuzzi is likely to see regular offensive-zone shifts and power-play time, giving him prime opportunity to notch a point. And being on the top power play with Bedard has it’s benefits. Out of Bertuzzi’s last 13 points, 7 of them have come from the man-advantage.
To top off this NHL best bet you need to go back in time. Bertuzzi has a point in his last four matches against the Kings and has 5 points in those games. Let’s ride the hot streak and have Bertuzzi continue to cash with us.

3. Brock Nelson point +100 on BetOnline:
Brock Nelson returns to the Islanders for the first time
It may be an emotional night for Brock Nelson. The former alternate captain of the New York Islanders returns to Staten Island for the first time since being traded to the Colorado Avalanche last season. He will face the only other team he has ever played with for only the second time, and the first time back in the rink he played so so many games in.
On the season, Nelson has 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 2025–26 — a respectable total given his role and ice time so far, but not eye popping. And that’s exactly why we are getting this look at plus money. With his new three-year contract extension signed in June 2025, his team seems committed to him in a top-6 center role, which likely means stable minutes and opportunities in both even-strength and special-teams situations.
The Islanders in 2025–26 have allowed 2.85 goals per game — suggesting their defense and goaltending are more vulnerable than in stronger years. They’re conceding around 27.2 shots on goal per game on average — a moderate but exploitable volume that could create enough chances for a scoring veteran like Nelson.
Considering this game is a reunion — Nelson playing against his longtime former team — he may be especially motivated to make an impact, adding an “emotional edge” to his usual offensive arsenal. Recent coverage before the game highlights this subplot. It also doesn’t hurt this NHL best bet that the Colorado Avalanche are the top offense in the entire league. They are averaging 4.08 goals for per game this season, the Anaheim Ducks are in 2nd place with 3.56 which shows just how impressive this offense is.
