It is time to find some NHL best bets at great prices! Each week I will be pulling out my readers and snippers to grab some NHL player props at discounts that will help keep your betting bankroll stocked. We will be looking for mispriced props, tasty narrative plays and players who are on heaters (that the books keep ignoring). We had a winning record across the Betting News NHL Best Bets articles last season with nearly 20+ units earned. Let’s bring the action back to the 2025-2026 NHL season.
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all playoffs long! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets of the day.
1. William Nylander o3.5 SOG +180 on BetOnline:

William Nylander is one of Toronto’s top snipers
The Toronto Maples Leafs will be without one of their top wingers, Mitch Marner, this season as he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. However, this team still has some of the most elite firepower in the league, and this move may turn them more into a big bruising playoff style team than the seasons they had the “big four”. Marner’s playmaking will be missed, but the teams top two snipers, Auston Matthews and William Nylander, will be able to adapt as they are two of the leagues top snipers.
Nylander is particularly in a great spot tonight as the Leafs host the Montreal Canadiens in their home opener. And it seems like the sportsbooks are thinking the absence of Marner will hinder Nylander’s ability to find the net. Sitting at -140 for his 2.5 SOG (shot on goal) we are already getting a major discount. This is a player who regularly is featured around -180 for this same line. So while you can play it safe with three shots, I think we should squeeze out more value at 4 SOG as an NHL best bet.
The Canadiens just so happen to be one of Nylanders favorite targets. In his last seven home matches against Montreal, Nylander has averaged 9 shot attempts and 6.1 shots on goal. The Canadiens allowed the 9th most shots against in the league last season and the most power play opportunities to opponents when on the road. This is a tasty spot for Nylander that we need to jump on before that price skyrockets.

2. Matias Maccelli Assist +180 on BetOnline:

Maccelli is coming in to step in Marner’s spot on Toronto’s top line
Sticking in Ontario, the Maple Leafs have a major new piece in their top six. As mentioned above, top winger Mitch Marner was traded this offseason. Toronto had a major hole to fill in the top 6, and they look to have found a solution. While not as prolific as Marner, Matias Maccelli was a fantastic playmaker for the Arizona Coyotes. He has already been slotted onto the 2nd power play unit and top line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.
The Toronto power play was the 9th best last season, converting nearly 25% of the time. They also ranked 9th in goals for per game last season. Tonight they host the Montreal Canadiens, who allowed the 9th most goals against per game. But what really makes this bet tasty is the fact that Montreal allowed the most power play opportunities to opponents in the league.
If Maccelli fits like a glove on that top line, he will have a point and assist prop at a HEAVY discount until sportsbooks catch on. Marner was often a 1.5 point prop player, and if Maccelli stays stapled to the top line he could be a consistent assist producer. Jump on the value now, as this could be an NHL best bet at excellent value to start the season.

3. Mitch Marner Assist -135 on BetOnline:

Mitch Marner will make his debut as a Golden Knight
In the biggest move of the offseason Mitch Marner was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in a blockbuster trade. Tonight he will make his debut on his new team, and the only other team he has played for. Marner is one of the elite wingers in the league, having put up a career most 102 points last season. He will now be paired with another top center in the NHL in Jack Eichel.
Marner is a playmaker. He has often had twice to nearly three times as many assists to goals ratios in seasons past. While Eichel isn’t as prolific of a goalscorer that Auston Matthews is, he still has regularly put up 25+ goals. The Golden Knights were 6th in goals for per game last season, averaging 3.35 GF/GP. This is the strongest group of forwards they have had, perhaps since the franchise began.
The Golden Knights are also more dominant at home, making this NHL best bet even tastier. They had the 6th best power play and 5th best GF/GP at home last season. They face a tough Kings team tonight. But Los Angeles played in their home opener last night, giving up 4 goals to the Colorado Avalanche. They had to jump on a plane to go to Vegas, only to have to face another NHL power house.
