NHL 4 Nations USA vs Canada Picks and Odds, February 15, 2025

We have seen nothing but action-packed offense in the first 2 games of the tournament. I don’t think we see anything different in what is the most anticipated game of the tournament – team USA vs team Canada.

Team USA came our screaming in their 1st game vs Finland winning 6-1. The Tkachuk brothers wasted no time exploding on the scene representing the stars and striped. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck was solid in net as he has been all season for the Jets.

Finland didn’t stand a chance vs USA. Not once did they show any signs of life, and their lone goal was lucky to sneak by Hellebuyck early in the 1st period. Otherwise, they were out shot, out hit and made stupid mistakes for penalties.

This team more than controlled last game. Matthew Tkachuk was interviewed after the game and asked about the boos, his response was “I didn’t like it.” This team is obviously very aware of Canadians being unhappy with USA and this team doesn’t care.

Team USA is playing with a different fire under them from these boos. I was hoping they’d bring their thick skin to the Belle Centre, but they came in looking for blood.

Team Canada will have their work cut out for them after OT win vs Sweden

When Team Canada scored, they looked fantastic. Within the 1st minute of the game on the power play, I thought we saw the fate of the tournament right there. But then the rest of the game was played.

Canada was dominating this game, but then as the game went on, they started to slip. Sweden came back down 3-1 to force OT and came up short of the full comeback. In my opinion though, it showed a lot about this Canada team.

Defense wins championships and they need to play better. Sweden is a great team, don’t get me wrong, but they are no Team USA. Today is going to be completely different than Wednesday night from more skill to better goaltending.

I’m riding with the home country after seeing how they played in the 1st game. This team is also playing with a purpose and for someone and that is in memory of Johnny Gaudreau. Johhny Hockey would be on this team if he was still with us (RIP).

Inside the locker room, the player of the game is getting to wear Johnny’s jersey, so there is motivation there as well. This team is hungry and now pissed off from the booing. They’d love nothing more than to beat Canada straight into the ground and then win the tournament on home soil.

It’s hard for me to pick out any one player to give props for. Definitely love both Tkachuk brothers to record 3 or more shots on goal, I like Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby to both record a point.

I also lean for this game to go under the 6.5 goals. Both teams are going to grind this out. We should definitely see a few goals, but I think we see a 3-2 or 2-1 finish. Either way, we have a history game on our hands. The only one that could be bigger is if they meet in the Finals!
