It was a great season for goalies this past year in the NHL. We had 9 goalies with 30+ wins, GAA’s as low as 2.33 and 4 goalies with 1600+ saves. Last year’s recipient was Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets.
Hellebuyck had a 2.39 GAA and a .921 save percentage last season. He has the 2nd lowest GAA and 2nd best save percentage. This award was well deserved for Connor and a congrats to him.
Today, we’re going to take a look at 3 goalies who I think should have a good shot at being the next Vezina Trophy Winner. All 3 are more than credible and it will of course come down to team play, but we’ll get into that.
There were a lot of offseason moves this summer. These goalies are returning to their helms but have some new teammates to spice things up. Let’s check out the current Vezina odds and get into my Vezina Trophy Predictions.

Igor had a hell of a year last season, finishing with a 36-17-2 record. He had a 2.58 GAA and a .913 save percentage. He tied for 3rd most wins in the league, tied with Sergei Bobrovsky and Stuart Skinner. Shesterkin was not a Vezina finalist last year.
The Rangers were really good last year, and he was a big part. So far, the Rangers are returning pretty much the same team and that’s not a bad thing. They were the Presidents Trophy winners and made it to the Eastern Conference finals.
I think the Rangers have another great season in front of them and Igor will be a key part. This team plays a complete game offensively and defensively. If they can give Igor more help on defense, than even better.
He is the odds-on favorite right now to win the Trophy at +600 odds. This is great value considering he’s the front runner to win. Absolutely worth a unit, if not at least a sprinkle.

As mentioned earlier, Hellebuyck was a well-deserved winner last season of this trophy. He ranked 2nd in wins, GAA and save percentage. He helped lead this team to the 2nd spot in the Central Division.
Winnipeg is returning close to the same lineup as last year. Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Josh Morrissey return to pick up where they left off. Last season Nikolaj Ehlers and Cole Perfetti were also big pieces.
Last year’s winner comes into next year as the 2nd favorite to go back-to-back. Price at +650, how can you not get involved here? This is another unit play for me and again, just sprinkle for fun if you want.

Ok, here’s my wild card. Not really a wild card because he’s a great goalie, but he’s now a great goalie on a completely different time. Saros was 35-24-5 last season with a 2.86 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
Towards the end of last season, the Predators got really hot and made their way into the playoffs. This year – playoffs are absolutely expected with the offseason moves they made.
Nashville signed Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei all at once. Adding Stamkos and Marchessault to this already good offense is just going to be insane. The 2 now teammates played together previously in Tampa back in 2014-2016.
All this new offense is going to give this team a whole new look. I really think they’re going to be a cup contender and Saros will also be a big reason why. His odds at +1600 are just so juicy that we have to sprinkle it.
