Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers, Game 2 Best Bets: How Will LA Respond?

Can Edmonton keep things going at home and take down the Dallas Stars?

The Edmonton Oilers jumped out to a big 1-0 series lead by beating the Los Angeles Kings 7-4 in Game 1. The Oilers absolutely dominated from start to finish, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never looking back.

Zach Hyman had a playoff hat trick, Connor McDavid had 5 assists, and Leon Draisaitl contributed with 2 points, a goal and an assist. The Oilers have had the pieces for a Stanley Cup push for a while, but could never seem to get over the hump. This uyear might be different.

The team looks very focused, and I expect them to have a strong showing in Game 2 tonight.

Let’s take a dive into this game and find our best bets.

Can the Oilers Continue Their Game 1 Domination?

The Oilers dominated the Kings in Game 1, can they do it again?

The Oilers dominated the Kings in Game 1, can they do it again?

As stated, the Oilers were in charge all of Game 1. They found themselves up 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the contest. Less than 10 minutes into the 2nd period, that lead had grown to 4-0. Now, it was 4-2 going into the 3rd period, but the Oilers stepped on the Kings throats to show them who was boss.

Draisaitl scored 68 seconds into the 3rd period, followed by Hyman’s hat trick goal 5 minutes later to grow the lead to four goals once again, 6-2. The Kings snuck two more goals in while Edmonton got an empty netter, eventually winning 7-4.

The Oilers now lead the Kings 4-1 in all games this series, and they have won all 3 contests in Edmonton, ironically the last 3 matches. In those games, Edmonton has outscored the Kings 15-7, they have had contributions from multiple skaters, and they look focused to make a push for the Stanley Cup.

After one game, I am convinced this might finally be the Oilers year, and I will be backing them in Game 2.

Best Bet: Oilers in Regulation (-115) Bovada

The Oilers have won 3 straight games against the Kings, covering the puck line in all three contests. All but one of the 5 games between these teams this season has been settled inside of 60 minutes, including the past 4 matchups. I think the Oilers continue their domination tonight and get the win in regulation today.

The Oilers had contributions from all of their stars in Game 1.

  • Zach Hyman: 3 goals, 1 assist, 9 SOGs
  • Connor McDavid: 5 assists, 3 SOGs
  • Leon Draisaitl: 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 SOGs
  • Evan Bouchard: 4 assists, 3 SOGs
  • Evander Kane: 6 SOGs

With all this talent, it’s about time the Oilers made a legitimate push for the Stanley Cup. They’ve shown dominance in Game 1 and down the stretch of the season, so I trust them to get it done in Game 2.
