We are back in Sin City tonight for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Vegas Golden Knights host the Edmonton Oilers as they look to bounce back at home following their Game 1 loss.
Despite the Knights jumping out to a 2-0 lead just nine minutes into the game thanks to two goals from Mark Stone, the Oilers were able to get one back before the end of the period. We played an entirely scoreless second, before the Oilers were able to tie things up at two goals a piece less than a minute into the final frame. The score remained for the next 16 minutes or so, before Zach Hyman was able to find a game winner with three minutes left on the clock.
Connor Brown sealed the win with less than two minutes to go, giving the Oilers a 4-2 victory. Will the Oilers keep cruising to a 5th straight win? Or will the Golden Knights even things up on their home ice?

The Golden Knights won the first two battles when facing the Oilers, beating them 4-2 on the road and 1-0 at home, but those games were back in November and December. Since then, Edmonton has now won three straight against the Golden Knights, including beating them 6-3 at home, 3-2 on the road, and now 4-2 on the road in the postseason.
Have the Oilers finally figured out the Golden Knights?
Personally, Edmonton is a very streaky team to me. They’ve now won five straight, covering the puck line in four of those five contests. Although Vegas has posted a 29-9-3 record this season at home, they let Minnesota steal one in Sin City, and it took overtime in Game 5 at home as well. They aren’t the same team that won the Stanley Cup a couple years ago, and I think that shows tonight as Edmonton keeps rolling.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Prediction: Oilers Win, Over 6.5

I am backing the Oilers to stay hot tonight. The Golden Knights are not the same team they’ve been in the past, but the Oilers still have so much attacking firepower. I did not have my mind set on a sweep going into this series, but after watching Game 1, I am convinced the Oilers end this in four if they get another win tonight, which I am betting on them doing.
The Oilers outshot the Golden Knights 28-17, and did not take advantage of either of their power play opportunities. Edmonton has scored on over 33% of their man advantage opportunities this postseason, while Vegas has killed 80% of their penalties. Something has got to give in Game 2, and I lean with the Oilers’ attack to get the job done once again.
Since Calvin Pickard has taken over, he’s stopped 89.6% of shots he’s faced. While we’d like this to be north of 90%, he only faced 17 shots in Game 1. Unless VGK is able to step up their offensive production, I don’t see things changing tonight. Give me the Oilers to go up 2-0 in this series.
