We showed up in Sunrise for Game 3, and I’m not sure the Oilers remembered to get off the plane. Less than a minute into the contest, Brad Marchand opened the scoring for the Panthers. Carter Verhaeghe followed this up with a power play goal towards the end of the period.
We went to the second, and the Oilers found the back of the net early. Corey Perry made it 2-1 after an Edmonton power play, but that score didn’t last long. Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett both scored before the midway point of the second, bumping the Panthers lead up to 4-1 going into the third.
Finally, Aaron Ekblad and Evan Rodrigues both added power play goals in the final frame to seal the win. Will they continue their dominant ways tonight? Or can the Oilers bounce back and tie things up before heading home?

Despite losing 6-1, the Oilers outshot the Panthers 33-31 in Game 3. However, they could not kill the penalty at all. Edmonton allowed 11 (yes, 11) power play opportunities to their hosts, and Florida successfully scored on three of them. The Oilers had six chances of their own, but were only successful on one.
Edmonton will need to come out guns a’blazing in this contest tonight, so I expect a faster tempo in this matchup.

Back the Ice Cats with me in 60 minutes tonight. I think Florida is rolling. Their defense is clearly playing phenomenal, Sergei Bobrovsky is incredible at home, and they are getting inside Edmonton’s head. The Oilers allowed 11 power play opportunities to the Panthers last game. Do I expect that to continue? Not exactly, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they end up on the man advantage at least five times tonight.
The Oilers couldn’t get anything going offensively in Game 3. Evan Bouchard led the way with nine SOGs, but Leon Draisaitl didn’t have any and Connor McDavid only had two. Edmonton will need their studs to step up when it matters tonight, but I trust the Florida defense to continue to contain their Canadian foe.
Give me Florida to win again tonight in 60 minutes, heading back to Edmonton up 3-1.
