Analysis & Breakdown

The Rookie wide out’s connection with Cam Ward is off to a hot start
It’s Getting Ugly in Tennessee
The expectations for the Tennessee Titans were never the postseason, not even a winning season; but for it to look this bad through three weeks is cause for concern. Cam Ward’s looked good, when he’s able to stay upright. The Titans have allowed a league worst 15 sacks on the year and the #1 overall pick is struggling to get even just little bit of time in the pocket.
Ward’s thrown for 506 yards through three games, with two passing touchdowns and one interception. He’s been sacked 15 times, knocked down 12 times and the Titans have yet to find a way to protect their young quarterback. Outside of the offensive line, the Titans’ wide receiver room hasn’t made it easy. Ward sits second in the league with eight dropped passes this season, four of which have been Calvin Ridley.
I Repeat, Houston We Have a Problem
The Texans are now 0-3 on the year and averaging a league-worst 12.7 points per game. Through three games this year, the Texans have just 802 total yards of offense, rank 29th in total yards, 23rd in rush yards, 24th in pass yards and have allowed CJ Stroud to be sacked eight times. The team’s been to the redzone just four times this year and have failed to convert any of those trips into touchdowns. The offense is bad, bad.
As bad as the offense is, the defense has been just as good. The Texans pass rush ranks 2nd in the league, behind only the Cleveland Browns. The team’s generated just eight sacks but have generated a ton of pressure all year. Starting defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter have accounted for 31 pressures on their own and both rank in the top six among defensive ends in pass rush grade.
Against a sub par offensive line in Tennessee, look for this Houston defensive line to give Cam Ward problems on Sunday.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Nico Collins o75.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

The Titans have run zone of 78% of their defensive plays this season. Last year Nico Collins was graded as the third best pass catcher against zone coverages. He caught 74% of his targets, averaged 2.75 yards per route run (5th), and saw an average depth of target of 11.4 yards. This week Collins will be matched up with L’Jarius Snead. Snead’s graded 87th of 102 cornerbacks this year, he’s been targeted 10 times and allowed four catches for 101 yards and one touchdown.
Collins leads the Texans in target share, seeing 29.1% of the targets and clearing this line in just one of their three games this year. The Titans rank 29th in yards allowed to wide receivers this year and 68% of that production has come from receivers out the outside. Snead was asked about the Texans’ star wideout this week by the media, his only response: “Who?”
Collins is taking 79% of his snaps out wide this year, he’s a top five receiver in this league and after Snead’s comments to the press; I’m sure he’s got a little extra motivation going into Sunday.
