The NFL Preseason continues with several matchups this weekend, including two nationally televised on NFL Network tonight. We get to see some exciting new quarterbacks battle it out in Atlanta this evening, as Michael Penix and the Atlanta Falcons host Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans, but will we see them both on the field? Let’s get into our favorite picks of this NFL Preseason matchup.

Tennessee Titans vs. Atlanta Falcons NFL Picks

Cam Ward leads the Titans tonight against Atlanta
Both of these teams lost their first preseason contest, but I’m not leaning into those results too much. However, I am looking at the lack of production from both backup offenses, which is likely what we will see again tonight.

The Titans lost their opening preseason matchup to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Cam Ward looked solid. His first taste of the NFL was a standard three and out, but the very next drive, he answered after a Tampa Bay touchdown. Ward led the Titans 65 yards down the field to find the end zone, including tossing one to Calvin Ridley for a 27 yard connection. That was all we saw from the number one overall pick, and we likely won’t see much more than a couple of drives tonight.
On the flip side, Michael Penix Jr. won’t see the field, and Easton Stick and Emory Jones will headline the quarterbacking for Atlanta, just like last week. Things could be rough offensively, especially given last week’s contests, so I’ll take a stab at the total.

Let’s call it what it is. This game is still the crapshoot that is the NFL Preseason. However, at least here in week two we have a better sense of who might see the field. In this instance, get ready to root on the backups for nearly the whole match.
Cam Ward will play a bit tonight, but once he’s done, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle will take over. They were unable to put up any points in nearly three and a half quarters against the Buccaneers last week, and I don’t expect much to change. As for the Falcons’ backups, they put up just 10 points last game, and couldn’t find any in the second half in a loss to the Detroit Lions.
While Tennessee’s defense may not be comparable to the Lions, its still easier to play than offense. Guys on that unit are still trying to make a roster, so they’ll bring their all to impress the coaches and fans. For me, that results in a low scoring, ugly, sloppy preseason matchup, soaring under 37.5 for us.
