Seahawks vs. Titans | NFL Week 12 Breakdown & Best Bets: Hawks Head to Music City

Jaxson Smith-Njigba

The Seahawks got beat down in Los Angeles last week and now they’re on the road in Nasvhille, Tennessee. The Titans are looking toward next year and with the Seahawks in town, this week could get ugly.

Analysis & Breakdown

Cam Ward

Music City Madness

The Titans aren’t good, but that should surprise no one. They just had the #1 overall pick in last year’s draft and outside of that this team’s aging and were never built to succeed; THIS year. Cam Ward’s playing behind one of, if not THE worst offensive line in the NFL. Ward’s been sacked 41 times through his first 10 NFL games and the kid’s just had no time in the pocket.

Despite that, Ward’s averaging just under 200 yards per game with six passing touchdowns and six interceptions. There’s a ton of room for improvement with Cam, but he hasn’t been their problem this year. The defense has been one of the biggest issues. Entering the year, the Titans had a good squad on papers. L’Jarius Snead on the outside with Jeffrey Simmons terrorizing opposing QBs, it felt right.

Snead just never reached the level of play we saw when he was with the Chiefs and it’s really held back this Tennessee secondary. The Titans rank 29th in opponent points, 18th in opponent pass yards and 26th in opponent rush yards. They rank 29th in touchdowns allowed this year and have given up 27+ points in three of their last four games.

This week the Titans will host a pissed off Seahawks team, fresh off Darnold’s worst start of the season.

Sammy Boy

Last week against the Rams it looked like Darnold was seeing ghosts. He had his worst start of the year, throwing for 279 yards, no touchdowns and FOUR interceptions. Somehow the Seahawks still only lost by two points and it’s just another testament to how good this Seahawks defense has been.

Seattle ranks 6th in points allowed, 6th in opponent rush yards per game, 14th in opponent pass yards and 3rd in opponent yards per play. They’ve got the 4th most sacks on the year and rank top three in both QB hits and hurries. The team’s been great from the top down and outside of last week’s ugly loss, Darnold’s been playing like an MVP.

Darnold’s currently 5th in passer rating, 2nd in completion percentage, 8th in yards and 1st in yards per pass attempt. He’s the NFL’s highest graded deep ball passer right now, recording a passer rating of 135.4 on throws of 20+ yards. He currently leads the league with 23 completions of 20+ yards, completing 63.9% of his attempts with 5 touchdowns and just 1 interception.

Darnold couldn’t do all this without the (current) best wide receiver in the NFL. Jaxson Smith-Njigba has played just 10 games so far this year, he’s already caught 72 balls and is currently averaging 114.6 yards per game. Seattle’s played 10 games this year, Smith-Njigba already has 1,146 yards through the air and 5 touchdowns.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Seattle Seahawks Team Total o26.5 (-110) | BetOnline

It’s not often I bet team totals, but after the way this offense looked last week, I’m forced to tap in. The Seahawks are coming off the 2nd lowest scoring game of the year and easily Sam Darnold’s worst game in a Seahawks uniform. Darnold threw for 279 yards but his 4 interceptions proved to be too much.

The offense didn’t register a touchdown until the 4th quarter and went 1/4 from inside 20-yards. Seattle’s offense ranks 3rd in the NFL, averaging 29.4 points per game. They rank 4th in pass yards, 14th in rush yards and 2nd in yards per play. The Seahawks convert 62.9% of their redzone trips into touchdowns and this Titans defense has been BAD.

Tennessee’s giving up 27.3 points per game and rank 24th in opponent yards per play. They’ve also allowed three of their last four opponents to hit this mark and have done a really poor job of defending the run in the redzone. The Titans rank 27th in opponent redzone trips allowed (3.7), 31st in redzone run success allowed (44.2%), and are with tied 2nd-most redzone rushing touchdowns allowed (10).

After their first road loss in more than a calendar year, I’m expecting Seattle to come out angry and looking to prove a point.
