Analysis & Breakdown

Stafford’s Still Slingin’ It
At the age of 37, Matthew Stafford is having one of his best statistical seasons yet. Through nine games this year, Stafford’s completing 67% of his passes, he’s thrown for 2,427 yards (269.7/game), 25 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He’s helped the Rams win seven of their first nine games, ranks 1st in passing touchdowns, 2nd in passing grade, 4th in passing yards, and third in passer rating.
Stafford’s looked like the MVP through the first half of the year and a ton of it has to do with the duo he’s throwing the ball to. Both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams account for 51.8% of the Rams’ targets and both are currently on track for 1,000 yard seasons. Adams has caught 9 of Stafford’s 25 touchdown passes and it’s all because of his skill in short yardage.
Adams leads the league in receiving touchdowns and currently accounts for 37.5% of the team’s redzone target share. Puka Nacua’s having an equally shocking year, averaging 96.9 receiving yards per game with 66 receptions in just 8 games. Nacua’s got five total touchdowns, four through the air and one coming via the ground.
Kyren Williams is averaging 73.2 yards per game and Blake Corum’s really developing into a great change of pace for this offense. Both backs are currently averaging 4.5 yards per carry but this a Sean McVay offense and McVay likes to pass the ball. Los Angeles ranks 2nd in pass yards this year, 1st in first downs and 6th in yards per play. They’ve looked great and most of it stems from stellar quarterback play.
Legion of Boom 2.0
The Seattle Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a 3-year, $100 million contract in the offseason and it’s looking like one of the greatest signings in franchise history. Darnold’s thrown for 2,262 yards (251.3/game), 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He’s completing 71% of his passes and ranks #1 in offensive grade among all QBs.
Darnold’s helped lead the Seahawks to their best record since Russell Wilson was still in his prime, winning seven of their first nine with the 3rd best offense in football. The Seahawks are 3rd in points, 6th in redzone efficiency, 6th in pass yards and 2nd in yards per play. They’re scoring 30.6 points per game and currently undefeated on the road.
In fact, Head Coach Mike McDonald hasn’t lose a road game since September 30th of last season. Meaning, the Seahawks have won 10 straight road games; four of them having come this year. Big reason they’ve been so good on the road is this defense. Seattle ranks 5th in points allowed this year, 7th in opponent redzone efficiency and 2nd in opponent yards per play.
The team’s secondary has done a great job this year, holding opponents to the 7th fewest receiving yards per game and having given up just 7 touchdowns to opposing wideouts. This week will be their toughest test, with both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams torching teams every single week.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Jaxon Smith-Njigba o99.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has simply been the best wide receiver in all of football this year. Through just nine games this year, Smith-Njigba has recorded 1,041 receiving yards, he’s caught five touchdowns and averages 16.5 yards per catch (2nd, min. 50 targets). He’s been graded as the NFL’s top pass catcher and he’s been even better against zone coverages.
JSN leads the league in yards per route run against zone (5.19), target rate (43.3%) and has recorded 732 of his 1,041 yards against zone coverage. The Rams play zone at the 7th highest rate this year and rank 23rd in receiving yards allowed to opposing wideouts.
Last time Smith-Njigba was in Los Angeles, he finished with 7 catches, 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s seeing a 43.5% first read target share and 38.8% target share overall. If the Seahawks stand a chance in this game, they’ll need to put up points and the most efficient way to do that is through JSN.
Every week it’s the Jesse Pinkman meme with Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba but they just keep getting away with it
