Analysis & Breakdown

Lamar Jackson

Broken Wing

The Baltimore Ravens have no had a good time so far this year. The Ravens have won just two of their games through nine weeks and even with Lamar in the lineup, managed just a 1-3 record. The offense has looked okay with Lamar on the field but their defense has been really bad.

Baltimore ranks 30th in points allowed, 28th in pass yards allowed, 23rd in rush yards allowed and have done an abysmal job of generating pressure on the quarterback. They rank 30th in sacks this year and the defense has struggled to get off the field. The Ravens rank 28th in opponent third down conversion rate, 28th in opposing first downs and 29th in touchdowns allowed.

With Lamar back on the field you can be sure the Ravens will figure it out on the offensive side, but defensively I don’t see how this team gets any better.

Rough Times at Hard Rock

The Dolphins have looked absolutely terrible this year. They’ve won just two games this year, rank 26th in points allowed, 27th in opponent third down conversion rate and 23rd in touchdowns allowed. Offensively the team hasn’t been that much better, 21st in points per game, 29th in first downs, 26th in pass yards and 23rd in rush yards per game.

Tua Tagovailoa’s averaging just 189.8 pass yards per game with 15 touchdowns but 10 interceptions to do boot. He’s completing 69% of his passes but a ton of his passes have come close to or right at the line of scrimmage. De’Von Achane is tied for the team lead in targets, with both Achance and Jaylen Waddle seeing 50 targets so far this year.

Tyreek Hill’s out for the year and the Dolphins’ offense will be forced to figure it out with their WR1.

Thursday Night’s Best Bets

Jaylen Waddle o63.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

Jaylen Waddle

With how bad the Ravens have been in the secondary, we’re definitely looking to target one of these Dolphins pass catchers. The Ravens rank 24th in receiving yards allowed to opposing wideouts, 29th in receptions allowed and 28th in touchdowns allowed to the position. They’ve given up 8 receptions 112 yards to Keon Coleman, 7 receptions 77 yards to Amon-ra St. Brown and 7 receptions 114 yards to Rome Odunze.

The defense has allowed the opposing team’s WR1 to score in four of their seven games so far and have allowed a total of 10 touchdowns to the position. Waddle’s been great for the Dolphins and if you go back and look at his game logs without Tyreek on the field, it’s been bonkers.

In his L11 games without Tyreek; Waddle’s got 70 receptions, 919 yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s scored in seven of the 11 games and is averaging 8.4 targets per game. It’s clear who becomes Tua’s go to receiver with Tyreek on the sidelines and this week’s matchup with the Ravens presents a great opportunity for Waddle to breakout.

Jaylen Waddle Anytime Touchdown (+155)

Rashod Bateman Anytime Touchdown (+310) | BetOnline

Rashod Bateman

We’re taking a shot here with Rashod Bateman. The young wideout’s got one touchdown on the year and it came on Monday Night Football. The kid loves playing on Primetime and he’s scored a touchdown in six of his last seven games on Primetime.

We’ll be clenched for the entire game, but I love a good trend and this one’s too hot to ignore.
