Matt Stafford is 37 years old and still an elite quarterback. This week he travels to Tennessee with the Rams, ready to take on the #1 overall pick and hopefully leave still undefeated. Let’s jump right into this inter-conference clash in Music City.

Analysis & Breakdown

Number One
Cam Ward was taken with the 1st overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, he wears the number one and Titans’ fans are ready for this kid to start playing like a number one. Last week Ward debuted with 112 yards threw the air, a 42.9% completion rate and was sacked a total of six times. Ward was blitzed a total of nine times, hurried eight times, knocked down five times and had average of just 2.4 seconds in the pocket. The offensive line simply needs to be better.
The offensive line struggled and so did the Titans’ receiving core. Cam definitely struggled with accuracy at times in Week 1, but the four drops from Calvin Ridley and Elic Ayomanor really killed momentum at key times in that game. This week the Titans will face a Rams team that just held C.J. Stroud to 188 yards threw the air, no touchdowns and one interception.
This Rams defense got to the quarterback three times in the opener, allowed Stroud just 2.3 seconds in the pocket and have two defensive lineman ranked in PFF’s top pass rushers in Week 1. Jared Verse and Byron Young combined for 12 tackles, generated seven pressures and recorded one sack. Both won over 22% of their pass rushes and now matchup with a really bad Titans offensive line.
Stafford’s Still Slingin’ It
Matt Stafford is one of my favorite quarterbacks and for some reason he feels older than 37. In the team’s Week 1 opener, Stafford threw the ball 29 times, for 245 yards and one touchdown. He completed 72.4% of his passes and this is while he’s still developing a connection with the Rams’ newest offensive weapon, Davante Adams.
While those two figured it out, Puka Nacua quietly recorded 10 receptions on 10 targets, 130 receiving yards and went home with a gash just above his eye. Nacua continues to leave it all out on the field and it’s probably why he’s become Stafford’s favorite target. Last week both the Rams and Titans finished in the top six for average EPA per drop back. Both defenses looked elite and if we see that same Titans defense on Sunday, the Rams will need all their weapons on the table; ready to use.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Davante Adams o59.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Adams recorded eight targets in his debut for the Rams, just five of those targets we catchable balls. Adams finished the day with four receptions, 51 yards and really just left a lot on the table in Week 1. In his first game with the Rams, Adams saw a 29.6% target share; second only to Puka’s 40.7%. That means two receivers saw 70.3% of Stafford’s targets last week and that was against an elite Texans secondary.
We know that under Head Coach Sean McVay the Rams are going to pass the ball. In 2024 the Rams elected to pass the ball on 57.5% of their plays last season and now they’ve added one of the best route runners in the game to their roster. Adams ranked #1 in separation score last Sunday and that was against Derek Stingley Jr. Look for Stafford and company to air it out this Sunday and it’s why Adams is once again going to be a big part of the game plan.
