Analysis & Breakdown

Rams Defense

Formidable Front Seven

The Los Angeles Rams rank 3rd in points allowed, 3rd in defensive redzone efficiency, 4th in sacks and 9th in pass yards allowed. The teams’ pass rush has been graded as the sixth best this year with 19 sacks and 10 total forced turnovers. They rank 3rd in forced turnovers this year and have been it almost impossible for opposing quarterbacks to stay off the turf.

Offensively the team’s been just as good. In his 17th season, Stafford’s averaging 280.7 pass yards per game, he’s thrown 12 touchdowns, just two interceptions and he’s won four of their first six games. Los Angeles ranks 3rd in pass yards per game but have not done a great job of finishing drives. The Rams rank 24th in redzone efficiency this year and have had trouble moving the ball on the ground.

The Rams rank 22nd in rush yards per game and this week they’ll likely be without their #1 offensive weapon; Puka Nacua. Nacua’s dealing with a sprained ankle and has missed the first two days of practice this week. It’s tough for me to believe the Rams would rush him back to the field, especially with this game being in London.

Jungle Cat or House Kitten

Last week, in front of their home crowd; the Jaguars looked completely out of sorts. The team finished with a season low 12 points, 273 total yards and no redzone trips. Trevor Lawrence completed 64% of his passes for 258 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers. .He was sacked seven times for a total loss of 44-yards and it’s a big reason why the Jaguars failed to put up points.

The Jaguars also just could not move the ball on the ground. Etienne finished the day with 27 yards on 12 carries (2.3 YPC) and a big reason was the poor play of the offensive line. Prior to their Week 6 matchup with the Seahawks, Lawrence had been sacked six total times. That means Lawrence was sacked more last week than in his prior five games.

This week the Jaguars will have to deal with one of the toughest defensive lines in the NFL and if they can’t keep their quarterback clean; it could be a long day for Jacksonville. Lawrence is completing just 53.4% of his passes when under pressure, he’s got one touchdown, two interceptions and a passer rating of 63.8.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Brian Thomas Jr. o66.5 Receiving Yards (-111) | BetOnline

Brian Thomas Jr.

Brian Thomas Jr looks to have a stellar 2nd NFL Season

The Jaguars are coming off an ugly loss but the one thing they can hang their hat on is the fact that Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. might finally be on the same page. Over the last two weeks, Thomas has caught 12 balls for 170 yards and one touchdown. It was the young wideout’s second touchdown of the year and just his first receiving touchdown of 2025.

Thomas is seeing a 23.4% target share on the year and the catchable throw rate seems to have corrected. Over his last two weeks, Thomas has seen 16 targets, 14 of which have been catchable targets. Another thing about this Jaguars offense is that Thomas sees a significant jump in target rate when facing pressure. He ranks 16th in the NFL in target rate when the defenses brings pressure and that’s something the Rams are doing at the 9th highest rate.

Lastly, a lot was being said about the second year wide receiver early this year, a lot of that being negative. Despite playing in all six of the Jaguars games this year, Thomas was dealing with some lingering injury issues. Now over the last two weeks as he’s approached 100% you can see it in his play.
