Analysis & Breakdown

Davante Adams

Any Given Sunday

There are no guarantees on the gridiron. Nothing is decided until the game’splayed and with the level of talent around the league, any team can win on any given Sunday. Last week we saw that with the Los Angeles Rams in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Rams went into that game as a 10 point favorite, on the road and lost. Stafford threw for 243 yards, 2 touchdowns but added 2 interceptions; one going for six the other way.

Stafford’s still playing MVP-esque football, averaging 256.1 pass yards per game with 32 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He’ averaging 2.6 touchdown passes per game this year and he’s the reason this offense is averaging 27.8 points per game. Stafford could set a career high in touchdown passes this year, while at the same time the Rams continue to lead the NFC West.

The defense has been just as good as this offense. They rank 2nd in points allowed, 3rd in forced turnovers, 6th in sacks and 2nd in opponent redzone efficiency. The Rams currently sit atop the NFC West but without much room for error. The Seahawks are in Atlanta this week taking on Kirk Cousins and the Falcons, while the 49ers enjoy a much needed bye week.

The Rams currently hold the tie-breaker over the Seattle, but would love to create some space in the standings. Losing this week could leave the door wide open for the Seahawks to take over top spot in the division. They’d have a chance to close it out in two weeks when the Rams come to Seattle for the second of their two matchups.

With so much on the line this week in a divisional game, I’m expecting the Rams to come prepared and ready to respond in a big way after last week.

Jacoby’s More Fun

I’ll say it again, the Arizona Cardinals look so much better with Jacoby Brissett under center. Despite their fourth straight loss, the Cardinals scored 17 points, Brissett threw for 300+ yards and 2 touchdowns. He threw the ball 40 times, completing 72.5% of his passes and losing to the Buccaneers by just 3-points.

The tandem of Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. combined for 14 catches, 153 receiving yards and 1 touchdown last week. Unfortunately Harrison’s already been ruled out for this Sunday’s game and that leaves a ton of volume out there for other Cardinals receivers. We’ve seen Michael Wilson thrive with the increased volume over the last few weeks and there’s no reason that shouldn’t continue this week.

Lastly, let’s talk about Arizona’s defense. They rank 24th in points allowed, 19th in opponent redzone efficiency, 26th in opponent first downs, and 21st in opponent pass yards. They’ve had major issues stopping opponents and getting off the field. This week they face a Rams offense that ranks top 5 in almost all offensive categories.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Kyren Williams Anytime Touchdown (-105) | BetOnline

Kyren Williams

I don’t love betting touchdowns for anything below plus money, but this feels like a price I can’t pass up. Kyren Williams has scored in 8 of the Rams’ 12 games so far this year, scoring 10 total touchdowns and sitting second on the team in touchdowns.

The Cardinals rank 26th in touchdowns allowed to opposing RBs and have allowed an opposing RB1 to score in six of their last eight games. Williams has also had some of his best games against this Cardinals squad. In four games as the Rams’ starter, he’s averaging 121.5 yards from scrimmage per game, he’s scored five total touchdowns and has a touchdown in every one of the matchups.

The Cardinals have given up 11 rushing touchdowns in the redzone, tied for fourth most and have given up 5 total touchdowns to opposing RBs over the last three weeks. Despite splitting carried with Blake Corum over the last few weeks, we’ve seen Kyren dominate in the redzone. He’s seeing 59% of the team’s redzone carries and has out-targeted Corum in the redzone 9 to 1.
