Analysis & Breakdown

Keon Coleman

Most Valuable Player

Fresh off his first career MVP Award, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are once again rolling. They’re off to a 4-0 start and it’s beginning to look like the AFC’s going to run through the frigid temperatures of Buffalo. Allen’s averaging 241.0 pass yards per game, he’s thrown seven touchdowns, one interception and he’s got three touchdowns on the ground. That’s 10 total touchdowns, 1.120 yards (pass+rush) and he’s completing 70% of his passes while doing it.

Buffalo ranks 2nd in points per game (33.3), 1st in rush yards per game (163.5), 2nd in total yards (404.0) and have turned the ball over just ONCE. After their scare in Week 1, the Bills have yet to lose a quarter of football and have trailed their just once; the Dolphins opening drive touchdown last week.

Defensively the Bills could be better. They rank 17th in points allowed, 21st in redzone defesive efficiency and 25th in opponent third down conversion rate. Buffalo has the league’s best rushing offense, but the 2nd worst rushing defense. The Bills are giving up 164.2 yards per game on the ground and lot of that’s because of their injured DT Ed Oliver and injured LB Matt Milano. Both remain questionable this week and have had limited participation in practice.

Iceman Drake

Drake Maye and the Patriots have won two of the four games, he’s averaging 247.0 pass yards per game and he’s thrown seven touchdowns to just one interception. Maye’s completing 74% of his passes and has scored two touchdowns with his legs this year. Patriot fans have a lot to be optimistic about, especially now that lockdown corner Christian Gonzalez is back on the field.

Last week the Patriot defense finally came back to life, holding the Panthers to 13 points, holding Bryce Young to 150 yards through the air and even scoring a special teams touchdown on a 87-yard punt return. That was the Panthers, this week they’ve got the Bills. It’s a divisional game, on the road and now against a much better opponent. Head Coach Mike Vrabel understands what’s at stake and knows how important it is to get him to lock back in for this one.

Sunday Night’s Best Bets

Drake Maye o24.5 Rushing Yards | BetOnline

Drake Maye

Maye’s averaging just 24.5 rush yards per game, he’s hit this line just twice and yet this line still sits as high at 28.5. The Bills rank 31st in rush yards allowed this year and 32nd in rush yards allowed to the quarterback position. Over the first four weeks, the Bills have given up 49 yards to Rattler, 10 to Tua, 49 to Fields and 70 to Lamar.

The Bills defensive line ranks 9th in pass rush grade and Joey Bosa is the 3rd highest graded defensive lineman in the NFL this year. He’s generated 17 pressures, two sacks and has a 20.2% pass-rush win rate. Bosa has been phenomenal in his first year with Buffalo and he’s a huge reason why opposing quarterbacks have been forced out of the pocket.

Maye’s also handled the blitz exceptionally well. He ranks 2nd in passer rating when blitzed (127.0) and ranks top two with 66 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The Bills are blitzing at a 33% rate this year and lead the NFL in pressure rate when blitzing. Maye’s been sacked 13 times so far this year and it doesn’t get any easier this week. Look for Maye to make a big play with his legs and do whatever he can to help his team win this game.
