Analysis & Breakdown

Jaboo is Back
It’s finally happening, Jameis Winston will get the start for New York; albeit not under the best conditions. Jaxson Dart left the Giant’s Week 10 game against the Bears with a concussion in the fourth quarter. The Giants had a 20-10 lead with just one quarter left to play, Dart leaves the game and Russell Wilson is tapped to replace him.
Wilson stepped in for back to back three and outs, gave up a 10 point 4th quarter lead and now we’ll get to see Jaboo take the reigns. Winston hasn’t played since his time with the Browns last year, but if history is any indication; he’ll be airing it out.
Winston started seven games for the Browns last year, winning just two games but averaging 291.1 pass yards per game. He threw 12 touchdowns in the seven starts, but did also match it with an equally bad, if not worse; 12 interceptions.
The Giants have been mauled by injuries this year. Outside of Dart, the team’s already without both Cam Skateboo and Malik Nabers for the rest of the year and offensively it just doesn’t get any easier with this Green Bay defense up next.
Spoiled Cheese
The Packers have lost back to back games, both games coming at Lambeau Field. Green Bay looked BAD last week against the Eagles, scoring just seven points and finishing with just 261 total yards of offense. Green Bay’s now 5-3-1 this year, sitting third in the NFC North and looking desperately for spot to turn it around.
The offense has now scored fewer than 14 points in back to back weeks and with Jordan Love under center, that’s unacceptable. Lots has been said about Love’s performance, the play calling and the all around play of this offense. It’s tough to point at just one thing, the team’s just looked bad.
Play-calling has been conservative, offensive line play has been bad and the run game has been non-existent. Then last week we saw Jordan Love miss a ton of open looks and when he did get the ball downfield we saw a ton of drops. The Packers held the Eagles to just 10 points and still somehow lost that game. They’ve been leaving a ton of points on the field and a huge reason why is the lack of consistency from Brandon McManus.
Despite the issues, the Packers have looked good at times. They rank 1st in third down conversion rate, 9th in 1st downs generated, 9th in pass yards, 10th in yards per play and have given up the third fewest sacks this year. This week they line up against a 26th ranked Giants defense, desperate for a ‘get right’ spot.

Jordan Love o1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+100) | BetOnline

Say what you want about Jordan Love, but calling him mediocre is something you just can’t do. Love’s averaging 249.7 pass yards per game this year, completing 68.9% of his passes for 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He’s recorded a passer rating of 103.0 and currently ranks as the fifth highest graded passer, according to Pro Football Focus.
Love is 7th among all QBs in passer rating, 8th in completion percentage, 6th in yards per attempt, and 5th in adjusted completion percentage. He’s 2nd in EPA and 7th in completion percentage over expectation and has just been held back by the play-calling and poor offensive line play.
The Giants have allowed nine passing touchdowns over their last four games, allowing three of the four QBs to throw 2+ passing touchdowns. New York also ranks 31st in defensive redzone efficiency, allowing opponents to turn 70.6% of their redzone drives into touchdowns.
Love’s cleared this line in just four of the team’s nine games this year, including just once in his last five. This week, after all the talk about the Packers and the play-calling and the offense; look for Love to air it out and quiet some of the chatter.
