Packers vs. Bears Analysis & Breakdown

Packers vs. Bears | NFL Week 11 Breakdown & Best Bets

The Original Rivalry

The Bears vs. Packers is the oldest rivalry in American Professional Sports. They played their first game back in November of 1921, the Packers won 20-0 and they’ve played over 200 times since.

The Packers lead the all time head to head matchup, 106-94-6; with the Packers going 16-2 over the last 10 years and having won 10 straight against the Bears, dating back to December of 2018. With a new face under center, can the Bears finally turn it around?

New faces, same bad blood.

This week represents the newest iteration of this Midwest Rivalry. Two young quarterbacks lead the charge for both teams, Caleb Williams in his rookie year and Jordan Love in his 2nd full year as a starter.

Williams and the Bears come into this one on a 3-game losing streak, scoring just 27 points and just 2 offensive touchdowns over the last 3 weeks. At 4-1, the Bears looked poised to compete for the NFC North Crown in Caleb’s rookie season. Williams

Since then, Williams is averaging 156 passing yards per game, he’s thrown no touchdowns and he’s completing just 51% of his passes.

From Green Bay, with Love

Love has looked great at certain points this year, he’s looked terrible at times this year; and somehow he’s done both in the same game.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions with Jordan Love this year, he’s thrown 15 touchdowns and was at one point leading the NFL in that category despite playing 2 fewer games than everyone else.

Love’s now gone back to back weeks without recording a passing touchdowns, unless you count the touchdown he threw to the Lions’ Defense.

The Packers are 6-3 this season but they’ll need their young QB to play at a much higher level if they hope continue their winning streak at Soldier Field.

Packers vs. Bears | NFL Week 11 Breakdown & Best Bets

If you’re the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, beating the Chicago Bears is just part of the job description. Over the last 10 years, the Packers have gone 16-2 against the Chicago Bears, even winning 5 in a row at Soldier Field.

Last season was Jordan Love’s first taste of this NFC North rivalry and he came out to play. In two games against the Bears last year, Love recorded 2 wins, 561 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Love recorded at least 2 passing touchdowns in both games, recording 2 more passing touchdowns in 68% of his games last year and in 64% of his 25 career starts.

This season, Love’s recorded 2+ passing touchdowns in every game he’s started, outside of the last two weeks. Of these two games, Love played 100% of the snaps in just one. Last week he saw just 63% of the offensive snaps, leaving early in the 2nd half due to reaggravation of his groin injury.

The Packers matchup with a top-5 Bears’ defense this week, a defense that’s allowed just 6 passing touchdowns all year. Chicago ranks 7th in pass yards allowed, 1st in passing touchdowns allowed, and they’ve given up 2+ passing touchdowns just once this year.

Thing about this Bears’ defense is, they haven’t played anyone that’s legit yet. The toughest matchups they’ve faced this year is CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels; both matchups they lost, both against inferior quarterbacks.

This week we’re rolling with Mr. Love to get the job done. From Green Bay, with Love.

DJ Moore Anytime Touchdown (+330)

Packers vs. Bears | NFL Week 11 Breakdown & Best Bets

This is purely narrative. It’s insanely tough to trust this Bears’ offense, especially with all the question marks in the locker room. This week we’ve seen reports of Bears’ players requesting Tyson Bagent get the start, just to find out those rumours may have been fabricated by Bagents father.

On top of the locker room drama, we’ve got the departure of the Bears’ offensive co-ordinator, Shane Waldron. Some (me) might argue it should have been Head Coach Matt Eberflus that got the axe, but regardless, he’s still at the helm of this Bears’ team as they come into this divisional clash.

New play-callers usually result in just a little more energy for the entire offense, just a little more pep in their step. This week, with Waldron’s departure, the Bears come into that same kind of conversation.

One of the biggest issues for Waldron was the lack of involvement of the Bears’ #1 receiver, DJ Moore. Moore leads the Bears in target share, red zone targets, and sits 2nd in touchdowns scored. The Packers have let opposing WR1‘s score 5 touchdowns, and have let the opposing WR1 score in back to back weeks.

Over the last 3 weeks, the Bears have just 2 offensive touchdowns, with both touchdowns being scored on the ground. Three straight weeks without a passing touchdown, back to back weeks without an offensive touchdown; BOTH big reasons why Waldron was shown the door this week.

The Bears need a spark offensively and with all the chatter surrounding DJ Moore this week, I love the value for him to get 1 in the endzone.
