The 2023-24 NFL playoffs have reached the Conference Championship Round, meaning we’re at the final stage before reaching Super Bowl LVIII. As the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs do everything in their power to punch a ticket to Las Vegas, NFL bettors will have their hands full with a ton of betting opportunities — including those in specialty markets.

For those unfamiliar with specialty props (also known as “specials” in some sportsbooks), here’s my explanation from the Divisional Round:

“Specialty props can take many different forms. On one hand, they might concern two starting quarterbacks needing to combine for a certain number of passing yards. On the other, a specialty prop might require a touchdown in every quarter of every game this weekend. In other words, the possibilities are endless.”

There are some great options coming up this weekend, so let’s explore my four must-bet specialty props for the NFL Conference Championship Round.

NFL Conference Championship 2023-24: 4 Must-Bet Specialty Props

The first two AFC and NFC Championship Game specialty props odds are courtesy of BetOnline on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11:49 a.m. ET.

NFL Specialty Prop #1: Most Passing Yards — Brock Purdy (+150)

Best NFL Conference Championship specialty props

The NFL playoffs are down to four quarterbacks: Brock Purdy (SF), Lamar Jackson (BAL), Patrick Mahomes (KC), and Jared Goff (DET). Of the talented quartet, I see Purdy finishing the weekend with the most passing yards.

Purdy doesn’t always rack up a ton of passing yards, but he still averaged 267.5 during the regular season before racking up 252 against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. He also generates a lot more passing yards at Levi’s Stadium (309.4) than he does on the road (234.9).

Purdy now has a tasty matchup against the Lions, who are allowing the second-most passing yards per game and per completion. In fact, each of Detroit’s last five opponents finished with no fewer than 319 passing yards while surrendering an average of 348 in their last two road outings.

At the end of the day, none of the other QBs have a matchup as juicy as this one. Goff has to deal with the 49ers’ defense, which allows 13th-fewest passing yards, while Mahomes and Jackson must go head-to-head against top-five passing defenses.

Even with star WR Deebo Samuel’s NFC Championship Game status up in the air, the 49ers have surrounded Purdy with enough offensive talent to rack up the most passing yards.

NFL Specialty Prop #2: Highest Scoring Team — San Francisco 49ers (+150)

Keeping the 49ers betting trend going, I’m taking Kyle Shanahan’s team to score the most points in the NFL Conference Championship Round.

With the ability to put up points through the air and on the ground at elite levels, the 49ers have one of the most dangerous attacks in the league. They’re averaging the third-most points in the NFL (28.6 PPG) and have scored at least 30 points in 50% of their games this season.

Even though the Lions have one of the better offenses, too, their defense leaves much to be desired. For starters, they surrender 23.2 PPG (23rd), which jumps up to 24.7 on the road (25th). They also allow the fifth-most yards per play while boasting the fourth-worst red-zone scoring defense, which only opens the door for the 49ers to put more points on the board.

The 49ers are also 7-point favorites in an NFC Championship Game that is projected to feature 51 total points, which makes it even more likely that San Francisco will put up the most points of all four teams.

Best NFL Bets: San Francisco 49ers to Be Highest Scoring Team (-125)

The second two AFC and NFC Championship Game specialty props odds are courtesy of Bovada on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 12:14 p.m. ET.

NFL Specialty Prop #3: Most Rushing Yards — Lamar Jackson (+400)

For this next NFL specialty prop, I’m getting a bit risky by taking Ravens QB Lamar Jackson to record the most rushing yards this weekend.

Jackson was tremendous on the ground during the regular season, tallying 821 rushing yards on 148 carries and even leading the NFL with 5.5 yards per carry. The former Louisville Cardinal’s ground success didn’t stop in the playoffs as he torched the Houston Texans’ frontline for 100 yards on only 11 carries, meaning he’s now finished with at least 97 in two of his last four games.

Best NFL Bets: 4 Must-Bet Specialty Props for Conference Championship Games

I understand why some people might be inclined to take McCaffrey (+125) in this market, but the Lions allow the second-fewest rushing yards this season. Even Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco has better odds (+375) than Jackson, however, he might not get much going due to the Ravens being ranked No. 13 against the run.

Yes, Kansas City has defended the run well, but Andy Reid’s team still gave up the 10th-most rushing yards to QBs during the regular season. Considering how Jackson averaged 75.8 rushing yards in four previous meetings with the Chiefs and even racked up 107 in the last meeting back in 2021, I won’t be shocked if he finishes Sunday with the most ground yards.

NFL Specialty Prop #4: Most Receiving Yards — Brandon Aiyuk (+200)

As for my final NFL Conference Championship specialty prop, I have my eyes set on Brandon Aiyuk to record the most receiving yards.

Aiyuk’s fourth regular season was his best as he finished with career highs in receiving yards (1,342) and receiving yards per game (83.9), resulting in All-Pro second-team honors. Although he’s only tallied 57 receiving yards in his last two outings, he still has three performances of at least 113 yards in his last five games.

As mentioned before, the Lions struggled to defend the pass, having given up the third-most receiving yards on the seventh-most receptions to wide receivers. It was only last week that Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans eviscerated Detroit’s secondary to the tune of 147 yards. That’s not to say that Aiyuk will replicate that performance, but he’s more than talented enough to come close.

If Deebo Samuel can’t play on Sunday, his absence would likely benefit Aiyuk, who has two 100-yard performances in three of the last games that his fellow wideout has missed.
