Matthew Stafford and the Rams look to repeat as NFC West Champions
NFC West Divisional History
Past 10 NFC West Division Champions
- 2024: Los Angeles Rams (10-7)
- 2023: San Francisco 49ers (12-5) *Lost Super Bowl LVIII vs. Chiefs*
- 2022: San Francisco 49ers (13-4)
- 2021: Los Angeles Rams (12-5) *Won Super Bowl LVI vs. Bengals*
- 2020: Seattle Seahawks (12-4)
- 2019: San Francisco 49ers (13-3) *Lost Super Bowl LIV vs. Chiefs*
- 2018: Los Angeles Rams (13-3) *Lost Super Bowl LIII vs. Patriots*
- 2017: Los Angeles Rams (11-5)
- 2016: Seattle Seahawks (10-5-1)
- 2015: Arizona Cardinals (13-3)
All four teams have worn the divisional crown in the past decade, but the Cardinals just barely squeak in, and they’ve only won the NFC West three times. I have little faith in them doing so this year, and it seems like the sportsbooks would agree with me.
However, the rest of the division could be wide open, so let’s look at the betting odds.

Odds to Win Super Bowl LX
- Los Angeles Rams +1600
- San Francisco 49ers +1800
- Arizona Cardinals +5500
- Seattle Seahawks +6600
The Rams and 49ers are the front runners for sure, both breaking into the top 10 overall on the odds board, but does anyone stand apart in the division?
Odds to Win NFC West Division
- San Francisco 49ers +160
- Los Angeles Rams +165
- Arizona Cardinals +425
- Seattle Seahawks +550
Apparently I have more faith in the Seahawks than the oddsmakers. I still see the Cardinals as the bottom feeder of this division, but they were just one game away from being above .500 last season. Can they finally break out this year?
Let’s take a look at how Las Vegas views these teams in terms of their win totals for the upcoming NFL season.

Sam Darnold takes over as QB for the Seattle Seahawks
Team Win Totals
Arizona Cardinals
- Over 8.5 (-125)
- Under 8.5 (-105)
Los Angeles Rams
- Over 9.5 (-150)
- Under 9.5 (+120)
San Francisco 49ers
- Over 10.5 (-110)
- Under 10.5 (-120)
Seattle Seahawks
- Over 7.5 (-160)
- Under 7.5 (+130)
I’ll bite on the Arizona Cardinals Under 8.5 wins at (-105). I simply don’t see a winning record on their schedule. Sure, they had eight wins last year, but if you do some quick math, that’s still under 8.5. And I’m not sure this team got any better.
Even though they play the horrible AFC South, I see them losing to Houston on the road, and possibly Indianapolis as well. They’ll also have to host Green Bay (loss), go to Tampa Bay (loss), go to Cincinnati (loss), and take on the Falcons in Atlanta (likely a loss).
Looking inside their divisional games, I respectfully don’t see more than three wins in the NFC West, splitting with each team at best in my eyes. Totaling everything up, even giving them the benefit of the doubt, I only see seven wins for Arizona. There is plus money out there, so line shop as always.

Kyler Murray leads the Cardinals into the 2025 NFL Season
NFC West Team Breakdown
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have a solid young group of starters. Kyler Murray still has the reigns to the offense at QB, James Connor returns at RB with Trey McBride at TE. As far as the receiving corps, Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch are ready to catch passes from their guy, signing Zay Jones as well.
They were in the top half of the league in points scored and allowed last season, and get the benefit of playing an easier schedule.
Arizona plays the NFC South, having to go to Tampa Bay, along with road games against Houston and Cincinnati. But they get to face New Orleans, Carolina, Tennessee, Indianapolis and Jacksonville throughout the season. If they can pull off some of those wins, they might be able to make some noise in the NFC West. But I’ll still bet against the as seen above.

Kyren Williams is the lead back for the Rams this season
Los Angeles Rams
The defending divisional champs parted ways with Cooper Kupp this offseason, making Puka Nacua the go-to guy. They also signed Davante Adams to pair out wide, and bring back Kyren Williams and Tyler Higbee to support Matthew Stafford. Does Stafford still have it? I sure think so, and so do the Rams who are rolling him out one more time.
They’ll have to go to Philadelphia and Baltimore this upcoming season, giving them two tough away games in the first six weeks. The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also come to town later in the season, but other than that, Los Angeles’ schedule is full of a bunch of potential wins.

Will Brock Purdy and the 49ers remember to show up this year?
San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy is at it again. Hopefully he will have Christian McCaffrey to help him this season, but TE George Kittle is still there. However, the wide receiver corps is messy.
Brandon Aiuyk has still not participated in any drills with the team. Jauan Jennings is questionable and is definitely unhappy in his situation, although he hasn’t formally asked for a trade, leaving Ricky Pearsall as Purdy’s top pass catching option.
After finishing last in the division the previous season, San Francisco has a relatively easy schedule compared to most. Their toughest non-divisional game is at Tampa Bay in Week 6, and at Houston in Week 8. The 49ers get to host the Falcons, which is about it from a “scary” matchup standpoint looking at their schedule.
It will all depend on who is on the field and how Purdy performs.

Kenneth Walker will lead the Seattle Seahawks offense
Seattle Seahawks
Lastly, a team I am very excited about. After getting rid of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, the new Seattle offense is ready to go. After a fantastic year with the Minnesota Vikings, Sam Darnold signed with Seattle to take over for the Seahawks. He pairs up with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and new WR Cooper Kupp as their stud wideouts, along with Kenneth Walker III at RB.
The tight end position will be held by AJ Barner who caught 30 passes for 245 yards and 4 TDs last season, but new OC Klint Kubiak is ready to revamp the entire offense.
Demarcus Lawrence is ready to chase down QBs for the Seahawks defensively this year, and schedule-wise, they couldn’t ask for much more.
Seattle will have to go to Pittsburgh and Washington, but other non-divisional road games include Jacksonville, Tennessee, Atlanta and Carolina. As far as their toughest opponents coming to the PNW, the Seahawks host the Buccaneers in Week 5, the Texans in Week 7, and the Vikings in Week 13.
This division is wide open, and I really don’t have a favorite team to wager on. Although the Seahawks at over 5-1 to win the division is speaking to me for some fun money after Darnold’s performance last season.
