The Bengals have lost back to back games, scored just one touchdown in two weeks and the defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed. This week they’ll host the Lions, hoping to just afloat in this one.

Analysis & Breakdown

See Ball, Score Ball
The Detroit Lions once again have the most potent offense in all of football. After a little bit of a hiccup in Week 1 against the Packers, the Lions have put up 52 points, 38 points and 34 points over their last three games. Detroit’s averaging 34.3 points per game (1st), 365.0 total yards per game (6th) and once again sit atop the NFC North. Jared Goff’s thrown eight touchdowns over the last three weeks, completing over 70% of his passes and has turned the ball over just once.
The tandem of Sonic (Gibbs) & Knuckles (Monty) has looked unstoppable to start the year, both backs averaging five or more yards per carry this year. The two have combined to score seven touchdowns through just four games and this week face a Bengals defense that ranks 26th in rush yards allowed. Cincinnati ranks 31st in rush yards allowed to running backs this year and have given up six touchdowns to the position already this year.
The Bungles are Back
It’s getting ugly in Cincinnati and Joe Burrow’s not coming out to solve those problems. With Burrow on the shelf until about December, the Bengals will need to figure out a way to get this offense going. Not only has Jake Browning been bad, but the lack of run game and lack of protection has only compounded the issues. With Browning now under center for the last two games, the Bengals have scored just one touchdown and recorded 13 total points.
On the other side of the ball, the Bengals defense has not made the situation any better. The Bengals have given up 27 or more points in three straight games and have been outscored 76-13 in Brownings two starts. The offense needs to be better but this Bengals defense remains as bad as it was last year, ranking 26th in pass rush grade and giving up 29.8 points per game.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Amon-Ra St. Brown o72.5 Receiving Yards | BetOnline

The Bengals defense is absolutely horrendous. Cincinnati’s giving up 29.8 points per game, 262.0 pass yards per game and rank 26th in yards allowed to wide receivers. The Bengals have had their doors blown off in back to back games and the offense has done absolutely nothing to help. This week they’ll host the Detroit Lions and their red hot offense.
Amon-Ra is seeing a 27% target rate, averaging 6.8 receptions per game with 307 receiving yards and SIX touchdowns. St. Brown’s looked like the best wide receiver in the league so far this year and this week he’s going head to head with last year’s Triple Crown winner; Ja’Marr Chase.
Chase was drafted with the 5th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, St. Brown was drafted with the 112th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Eighteen wide receivers were taken before St. Brown in the 2021 NFL Draft and that’s not something he let’s anyone forget. With Chase being the first receiver taken in that draft, you’ve got to think St. Brown’s coming out with a little more in the tank.
