Analysis & Breakdown

Are the Ravens Back?
The Ravens have now won four straight games and now sit just one game back of the division lead. Baltimore’s scored 23+ points in all four games and have held their opponents to fewer than 20 points in every single game. When you take a look at the Ravens’ schedule, you can see why they’ve looked so good.
Baltimore’s going through one of the softer parts of their schedule, having played the Browns, Vikings and Dolphins in their last three games. This week they’ve got the Jets visiting M&T Bank Stadium and Tyrod Taylor’s getting the nod. The Steelers lead the AFC North and have a tougher test this week with the Bears and that could mean an opening for the Ravens to take that top spot.
Baltimore’s defense this year 23rd in points allowed, 24th in pass yards allowed and 20th in rush yards allowed. They’ve done a terrible job of getting to opposing QBs and it’s why they’ve been picked apart through the air.
Offensively the Ravens have been good but continue to struggle down in the redzone. Baltimore ranks 10th in points, 4th in rush yards, 11th in yards per play but 28th in redzone efficiency. The Ravens are converting just 47.2% of their redzone trips into touchdowns and over their last two games we’ve seen them convert just 3 of their 9 redzone trips into six (33.3%).
New York ranks 27th in points allowed this year but 13th in the redzone. The tighten up when it matters and that makes for an interesting matchup this week with Balitmore.
In Tyrod We Trust
The Jets have made another Quarterback change and Tyrod Taylor will start his second game of the year on Sunday in Baltimore. Taylor’s first start of the year came against the Buccaneers in Week 4. Taylor threw for 197 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He added 8 carries on the ground for 48 yards and almost helped his team to the win. The Jets would lose 29-27 on a Tampa Bay field goal as time expired.
The Jets have a ton of injuries, they traded away their two best defensive players and look to be on a downward trajectory. The team’s giving up 26.8 points per game this year while struggling to score 20 per game. The offense ranks dead last in pass yards, 29th in yards per play and they consistently give up a ton of sacks.
Defensively it doesn’t get any better. After trading Quinen Williams and Sauce Gardener at the deadline, the Jets defense showed up and gave up 27 points and 336 total yards of offense to the Patriots. They gave up 23 first downs, allowed them to convert 60% of their redzone drives into touchdowns and registered just 1 sack.
This week with Lamar and a desperate Ravens team on the schedule, it’s about to get a whole lot tougher.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Adonai Mitchell o39.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

We’re looking at the young Adonai Mitchell against this porous Baltimore secondary. Last week in his first game with the team, Mitchell played 54% of the team’s offensive snaps and lead the team in targets with six. Unfortunately, Mitchell only hauled in two of the six and did record two drops in his debut.
Last week’s matchup did come against the Patriots tandem of Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III. This week he faces off with a secondary that ranks 24th in receiving yards to opposing wideouts and 28th in receptions allowed to the position.
In Taylor’s lone start this year, we saw him target Garrett Wilson 13 times. Last week was Mitchell’s first game with the Jets and he saw a 50% first read target shar. This week with Taylor taking over under center I’m even more excited about the potential. Mitchell has been great against man coverage, something the Ravens run at the 5th highest rate in the NFL.
Mitchell’s a 6’2 WR in his second year, he ran a 4.32 40-yard dash and it’s simply too soon to give up on the kid. He’s seen a 38% target rate against man this year and even though most of that was with Indianapolis, he did see a 55.6% target rate against man last week. Different QB under center this week but the number’s speak for themselves; Mitchell thrives against man coverage.
Tanner Engstrand talks about what he’s seen from AD Mitchell:
“I’ll just first start as AD, Adonai as the person, he’s awesome. He’s been phenomenal so far. Just like being around him. He’s got great energy, he’s got a great attitude. To me, that’s where it starts. When I see… pic.twitter.com/bxCQlLFPmn
