Analysis & Breakdown

Quiet Cats
The Jaguars came into the year with a brand new Head Coach, the 2nd overall pick in this year’s draft and Trevor Lawrence back healthy on the field. The team quickly jumped out to a 4-1 start and everyone in Jacksonville was flying high. After their big win over the Chiefs, the Jags followed that up with two abysmal outings against the Seahawks and then the Rams in London.
The offense managed just 19 points over two weeks and scored just seven points in their most recent game against the Rams. The Jags rank 24th in points scored, 23rd in redzone efficiency and have done a terrible job converting on third down (30th).
Lawrence is averaging 231.4 yards per game with nine touchdown passes on the year and five interceptions. The team’s coming off their bye week and have had plenty of time to work out the kinks. This week they roll into Sin City as a 2.5 point favorite and looking to get back in the win column.
Bowers is Back
Brock Bowers had one of the craziest rookie seasons we’ve ever seen from a tight end. Bowers finished the year with 1,194 yards, 112 receptions, five touchdowns and he did it all without a starting caliber quarterback. This year was supposed to be better for the Raiders, Bowers in his second year, a new Head Coach and new QB under center.
Spoiler alert, it has not been better for Las Vegas. The Raiders are 2-5 on the year, Bowers hasn’t been healthy for what seems like the entire year and Geno Smith has more interceptions than he does touchdown passes. It’s getting ugly in Sin City and I’m hoping the return of Bowers will help give this team the boost it needs.
On the subject of Geno, he’s been really bad. He’s averaging just 202.4 yards per game, completing 66% of his passes and he’s thrown just seven touchdowns, but TEN interceptions. Vegas ranks 31st in points scored, last in redzone efficiency, 28th in pass yards, 27th in rush yards and 31st in first downs. The offense looks bad, the defense has been equally as bad and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better.
Sunday’s Best Bets
Brock Bowers o54.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

Bowers is back.
He missed National TE Day by a week but he’s going to make his presence felt this week. Bowers has been dealing with a PCL injury and a bone bruise since Week 1 and when he was on the field you could see the kid is not at 100%. Now after three weeks on the sidelines, the brace is off and Bowers is back on the field.
Through four games this year, Bowers is averaging just under seven targets per game, 4.8 receptions per game and 56.3 receiving yards. He’s cleared this line just once and that came back in Week 1 against the Patriots. This week Bowers faces a Jaguars defense that ranks 26th in receiving yards allowed, specifically 24th to TEs.
The Jaguars are also running zone coverage schemes at an top-12 rate this year and that’s something we’ve seen Bowers torch. Going back to last year, Bowers saw almost a 30% target rate against zone coverage and this year the Raiders have desperately missed him in their pass attack. Look for Bowers have an immediate impact this week.
For a second straight day, Brock Bowers has shed his compression sleeve on his knee – which should be a good sign on where he is recovery wise heading into Week 9.#Raiders pic.twitter.com/L7ZPa1IV5B
