Analysis & Breakdown

Let Russ Cook?
Russell Wilson’s now playing for his fourth different franchise and third different franchise in three years. He’s had a tough go of since leaving Seattle, averaging 234.9 pass yards per game in his first year with the Broncos; he threw 16 touchdowns but added in 11 interceptions. Year two with Denver was better, averaged 204.7 per game but threw 26 touchdowns to 8 interceptions. The Broncos drafted Bo Nix and Head Coach Sean Payton decided it was time to move.
Russ signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, played 11 games, averaged 225.6 pass yards per game and threw 16 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. They’d lose to the Ravens 28-14 in the Wild Card round, Wilson throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns. Russ hasn’t been great over the last two seasons, but he hasn’t been terrible.
Wilson made his debut with the Giants last week against the Commanders, completing just 45.9% of his passes and recording just 168 yards threw the air. Both Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson combined for 20 targets, only 11 of them actually catchable balls. Wilson struggled with pressure in Week 1. Despite being sacked just twice, Wilson averaged just 2.69 seconds to throw the ball; ranking near the bottom amongst all quarterbacks in Week 1.
This Giants offensive line was ranked 29th last year and don’t look any better this year. The team finished with just 74 rushing yards, 44 of those coming from Russ himself as he ran for his life.
Jerry’s World
The Cowboys are back in Jerry’s World and ready to redeem an ugly Week 1 loss. The Cowboys entered last week as a 8.5/9.5-point dog. Dallas scored the first touchdown of the game, storming 53-yards in just six plays, directly after the opening kickoff. Philly would answer with a 10-play 70-yard drive of their own, capped off by a Jalen Hurts touchdown.
The teams would trade touchdowns in the first half, going into the break with a score of 21-20; favoring the Eagles. The game completely changed in the second half. The defenses stepped up and the Cowboys were held scoreless in the second half. The Eagles would go on to win 24-20 and under bettors rejoiced everywhere.
Dak Prescott looked great in the team’s opener. He only threw for 188 total yards but that had more to do with some absolutely brutal drops by his receiving core. CeeDee Lamb finished with three brutal drops that could’ve turned this game completely around and we saw Jake Ferguson drop what should have been a touchdown. It was a tough night for Dak, but not for the usual reasons.
Sunday’s Best Bets
CeeDee Lamb o80.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

CeeDee Lamb currently leads the NFL in dropped passes. That’s not an exaggeration, he dropped three passes last week against the Eagles and all three passes were at key times in the ball game. His squad would lose the game by four points and were held scoreless in the second half. Lamb was and still is, Prescott’s favorite target. He finished with 13 targets, seven receptions and 110 receiving yards.
There is no one angrier about his performance last week than CeeDee himself. He holds himself to a higher and standard and it’s why I get the feeling he comes out a little ‘pissed off’ this week. In games with Dak under center, against the Giants; CeeDee averages 98.6 receiving yards per game, 6.6 receptions per game on 9.0 targets, and he’s scored four total touchdowns.
In his last two games against New York, Lamb’s recorded 18 receptions on 22 targets, 249 total receiving yards and scored three touchdowns.Four at AT&T Stadium, his numbers jump to 116.3 receiving yards per game and 7.3 receptions per game. The Giants gave up 176 yards to opposing wide receivers last week and ranked 18th in receiving yards allowed to wide receivers last year.
This secondary hasn’t gotten any better.
Malik Nabers o80.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Malik Nabers saw 12 targets last week, just five of those targets were playable balls. This Giants offense will continue to revolve around him and really only take you as far as this Nabers/Wilson connection will go. The Cowboys held AJ Brown and Devonta Smith relatively in check, but that has more to do with Jalen Hurts refusal to throw the ball more than five yards.
Last week Nabers’ average depth of target was 13.8 yards, but he failed to connect on a couple of big time plays against the Commanders. He still finished the day with five catches for 71 yards and had three targets in the red zone; failing to convert on all three.
Last year, in two games against the Cowboys; Nabers finished with 184 total receiving yards, 20 receptions and 28 total targets. This week in a divisional matchup, look for Nabers to come out and redeem what should have been a big day in Week 1.
