NFL Fantasy Football 2025 Late-Round Value Picks: Wide Receivers

NFL Fantasy picks - late-round wide receivers

Last week we broke down the best wide receivers in the first four rounds and the best value picks in the mid-rounds of upcoming fantasy football drafts, kicking off our Betting News Fantasy Football series. Today, we will select one receiver from rounds 8 and beyond and discuss their NFL fantasy value.

I know, I know. I’m the hockey guy at Betting News. I go by Gretzky Betzky, I host PUCK IT and I eat, breathe and sleep puck. But I’m also an AVID fantasy football nerd who is in two dynasty leagues, partaking in 5+ leagues annually and been addicted to being a fake GM for over 15 years now. In fact, I won the Betting News staff fantasy league last season and came in second place in two other leagues. From draft day on I will watch player ADP like they are stock tickers, hunting down value. And while the NHL is snoozing, I’ll be contributing my NFL expertise in the fantasy football realm.

This will become an ongoing series where I highlight players who REEK of value in fantasy drafts. We aren’t talking about grabbing Ja’Marr Chase with the first overall pick, but instead we are going to be finding gems and value. Each article will feature a position within a range of draft rounds (we will always skip the first round). We will assume that these picks are for 12-team leagues with .5 PPR and will not be discussing in terms of Superflex. On top of that, I’ll highlight a futures bet that corresponds with each player, all of whose odds can be found on BetOnline.

So without further ado, let’s kick it off with NFL fantasy football 2025 late-round value picks: the wide receivers. It’s mock draft season baby!!!

1. NFL Fantasy Round 8 Value Wide Receiver: Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs has a new opportunity on a young and upcoming team, and could be a fantasy football steal

Stefon Diggs has a new opportunity on a young and upcoming team, and could be a fantasy football steal

The name of the game is VALUE this late in the draft. And to be completely honest, round 8 is a haven for quarterbacks. But for drafts where I draft a QB and TE/RB early, there is one wideout I will be targeting, Stefon Diggs. Over the course of the last six NFL Fantasy seasons, Diggs has had two top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes in the WR position. And while his age is catching up to him, and I in no way believe he is a top-10 wide receiver, I think a top-20 finish could be in the books.

Let’s face it, after the hype settled to Diggs’ trade to Houston, nothing else went well. Diggs suffered a torn ACL late in 2024, ending his season after 47 receptions for 496 yards and three TDs in eight games. This was not on pace for the 1,100+ receiving yards and 8+ TD seasons he had previously, but before the injury it was clear Diggs had juice in the tank.

Now on the New England Patriots, he has the opportunity to be the guy again in a much less crowded backfield than he faced on the Texans. And while that may not help him sneak away from the top corners of the league, it should be a benefit in .5 and full PPR leagues, where each target and each catch matters. Obviously coming off an ACL tear is scary, but Coach Mike Vrabel reported no physical restrictions for Diggs (knee) during Wednesday’s opening training camp practice, Paul Perillo of the Patriots’ official site reports.

This is an elite veteran receiver that will be teamed up with a young up-and-coming quarterback who was showing a knack of throwing down field by the end of last season. Now in his first full season in the NFL, QB Drake Maye has his top target. And you now have a high value pick deep into NFL fantasty drafts.

Drake Maybe o19.5 Passing TDs for -125 on BetOnline:

Maye will be in his first full season in the NFL. But in the 13 games he played in last season, he had 15 touchdowns. Maye was known for his arm in college and crafty playmaking. His ability to seek out sneaky reads and keep defenses guessing will help separate him in the NFL. He only needs five more TDs on this prop than he had last season. And with a solid top WR to throw to with Diggs, this line feels very likely to hit as long as both stay healthy.

2. NFL Fantasy Round 9 Value Wide Receiver: Jayden Reed

Jayden Reed still has room to grow, making him a great late round fantasy pick

Jayden Reed still has room to grow, making him a great late round fantasy pick

The Green Bay Packers feel like a team still trying to figure out who their top dog is in the wide receiver corps. They also feel like a team who could explode offensively or stagnate. Quarterback Jordan Love took a slight step back last season, but that could be the sophomore jitters. And this late in NFL fantasy drafts, you could do a lot worse than picking a guy like Jayden Reed as your WR3 or Flex.

Reed ranked top‑20 in yards per route run in his second season, up from 22nd as a rookie. He also led the NFL in passer rating when targeted in 2024, delivering huge value when he saw the ball. In his first two pro seasons: 2023: 64 receptions, 793 yards, eight receiving TDs, plus 119 rushing yards and two TDs. 2024: Led Green Bay with 857 receiving yards and added 163 rushing yards and six total TDs on just 75 targets—despite fading in the second half due to injury and team passing struggles. Could Reed take yet another step in his development?

With Christian Watson recovering from major injury and Green Bay drafting new receivers, Reed enters 2025 as the clear WR1 in the offense. Team sources reaffirmed his top role, despite incoming rookies — boosting confidence in his target share potential. Now that is called VALUE for NFL fantasy draft picks.

Jordan Love o25.5 Passing TDs for -110 on BetOnline:

Jordan Love missed several games last year with injury and still managed to throw 25 touchdowns. Now with more familiarity in both the NFL and his wide receivers like Reed, I expect Love to maintain this level of play. And while I don’t think he will hit 32 touchdowns like his first full season in the NFL, I expect him to have a slight bounce back, increasing the fantasy pick value of his receivers, running backs, and tight ends.

3. NFL Fantasy Round 10 Value Wide Receiver: Michael Pittman

Michael Pittman is a great late round fantasy pick

Michael Pittman is a great late round fantasy pick

Pittman played through a fractured back in 2024—his lowest fantasy output since his rookie season—yet still led the Colts in targets (23% share) before missing some time due to injury. Fully recovered heading into 2025, he arrives in better shape and more capable of hitting his ceiling. And this feels like a common theme this year for wide receivers, but I am buying yet ANOTHER dip. 2024 was all about taking risks on rookie receivers like Brian Thomas Jr., Nabers, and Ladd. This year I want to find depth late in drafts for fallers due to recency bias.

Though his efficiency dipped last season—finishing 48th in yards per route and 53rd in first downs per route—his usage remained strong with a 22.6% target share and top-32 first-read share. With improved quarterback play (Richardson or Jones) and healthier offensive cohesion, those targets could translate to significant production.

Before injury, Pittman was averaging WR13-level fantasy production in 2023, showing he has the upside of a top-20 receiver when healthy and with adequate QB play. A rebound season could vault him back into middle-round consideration or flex starter territory. If the Colts stabilize their quarterback play and he maintains his health, Pittman is set to reclaim WR1 status with big fantasy upside. Draft him as a low-risk, high-reward WR3 or flex option—a possible league-winning value for NFL fantasy picks.

Michael Pittman over 750.5 Receiving Yards for -110 on BetOnline:

Even in his worse season since his 13-game rookie year, Pittman surpassed this line with 808 receiving yards. There are several teams who have more questionable quarterbacks and several teams with much worse offensive lines. In fact, I think the Colts have a chance to surprise this season. This all adds up for Pittman’s futures on receiving yards as a sneaky good NFL best bet.
