Eagles vs. Packers | NFL Week 10 Breakdown & Best Bets: Moday Night Mayhem

Green Bay Packers

It’s Monday Night and my stomach’s in knots. The Eagles roll into Green Bay for one of the biggest matchups of the year. This game could dictate who finishes at the top of the table in the NFC so as a Packers’ fan I’ll be clenched until the clock hit’s zero. That being said, it should be one of the funnest games of the week, let’s jump right into it.

Analysis & Breakdown

Micah Parsons

Green Machine

The Packers lead the NFC North, have won five of their first eight games and still have left so much on the table. The team’s two losses this year have been two of the ugliest games I’ve had the pleasure of watching during the Jordan Love Era. Green Bay lost to both the Panthers and Browns, all while giving up no more that 16 points in either game. The offense was completely out of sorts and it’s because the play calling was abysmal.

In the two losses the play calling has been wildly conservative and it’s really lead to a ton of points left on the field. Despite Love playing like a top five quarterback by all metrics, the Packers are throwing the ball just 53.4% of the time (23rd). Love’s averaging 258.9 pass yards per game, completing 70.8% of his passes with 13 touchdowns, three interceptions and a passer rating of 107.9.

Now let’s talk about Love on Primetime. In his last 10 games on primetime, Love’s 6-3-1. He’s completed 78% of his passes for 259.0 yards per game, 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

The Packers lack of run game this year has been frustrating. The team ranks 20th in rush yards per game and Josh Jacobs is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry. The offensive line’s done a good job of protecting Love but they’ve struggled with run blocking.

Defensively the Packers have lived up to the hype. They rank 8th in points allowed, 2nd in rush yards allowed, 4th in opponent yards per play, 4th in QB hits and 6th in opponent third down conversion rate. The Packers pass rush is graded as 5th best this year with their coverage grade ranking #1 among all 32 teams.

Bird Gang

The Eagles are fresh off a bye week and ready to take a trip up to Lambeau Field. They’ve won six of their first eight games and battling it out with the Seahawks for top spot in the NFC. Ton of talk about Super Bowl hangovers coming into the year but the Eagles have shown they’re still here to win games.

The team ranks 11th in scoring, 1st in redzone efficiency but have struggled in other areas. The Eagles are 30th in third down conversion rate, 25th in first downs, 24th in passing yards and most surprisingly 21st in rush yards per game. Saquon Barkley’s struggled this year but he’s finally coming off his best game of the year, recording 150 yards, a touchdown and averaged 10.7 yards per carry.

Jalen Hurts has looked good, averaging just 209.6 pass yards per game but has 15 touchdowns and just one interception. His rushing stats have regressed a bit but he’s still managed five touchdowns on the ground and everyone’s favorite ‘tush-push’ now has few new mutations that have worked very well.

Lastly, these two teams played twice last year. Once to open the season in Brazil, Philly went home with 34-29 win after Love left the game with a knee injury on the final drive of the game. The two faced off again in the Wild Card last year, the Eagles winning that one 22-10 and ending Green Bay’s season.

These two team’s don’t like each other and I’m expecting that’ll show tonight on the field.

Monday Night’s Best Bets

Romeo Doubs o52.5 Receiving Yards (-105) | BetOnline

Romeo Doubs

Romeo Doubs is the WR1 for the Green Bay Packers. No one on this offense sees a high target share, but Doubs does lead the Pack with a 22.2%.

Tucker Kraft was second at 18.8% but now with him out of the lineup that’s nearly 20% that’s going to go elsewhere. This year Doubs’ is seeing a 31% first read target share and over the last five games, that’s jumped to 37%.

The offense is being schemed around Doubs and Love’s been going to his top guy more and more. In his last five games, Doubs has seen 41 targets, caught 27 balls for 320 yards and three touchdowns. He’s cleared this line in four of five games and is averaging 61 receiving yards per game at Lambeu this year.

The Eagles rank 17th in pass yards allowed but 23rd in receiving yards allowed to opposing wideouts. Nearly 70% of production they’ve allowed have been to receivers lined up out wide and a majority of that’s come against Adoree Jackson on that left side. Love and the Packers have played in three Primetime games this year, going 2-0-1. Love’s averaging 37 pass attempts per game in these games for 329.7 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions.

If Doubs can get just 20% of that production, we’re happy.
