Analysis & Breakdown

Sliding in the Temple of Doom
The Colts have lost back to back games for the first time all year and it’s not because Indiana Jones. Daniel Jones is averaging 253.4 pass yards per game this year, completing 67.9% of his passes for 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Over the last two games, Jones has just 382 pass yards but has thrown 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s completed just 56.9% of his passes during this time and the offense has been sputtering.
The Colts offense ranks 1st in points (29.8), 1st in yards per play, 6th in rush yards per game and 6th in pass yards per game this year. The offense ranks 3rd in touchdowns per game (3.5) and before last week had scored 20 or more points in every single game this year. Indy’s offensive line is the best in the entire NFL and it’s why Jonathan Taylor’s averaging 106.8 rush yards per game this year. Taylor’s scored 17 touchdowns of his own this year and doesn’t look like he’s going to stop anytime soon.
Defensively the Colts have been good, they rank 9th in points allowed, 10th in opponent yards per play and 7th in opponent rush yards per game. Indy’s struggled to stop opponents through the air, allowing 246.2 pass yards per game (27th) and allowing 16 total passing touchdowns.
This week the Colts look to stop the slide and hope for Indiana Jones to take back control of this offense.
Winners, Win
The Jaguars have now won three straight games and sit tied for top spot in the AFC South. Not every win was glamorous, but nonetheless the Jaguars are 8-4 with a chance at taking over sole possession of top spot in the AFC South. Trevor Lawrence is averaging 219.7 pass yards per game this year, completing just 59.6% of his passes with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Jaguars are 8-4, despite the play of Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence has looked bad this year and despite his poor play, the Jaguars have won 8 of their 12 games and have the 11th best offense in the NFL. The team’s averaging 24.3 points per game, they’ve won four of their last five and scored 25 or more points in every one of those games.
The defense ranks 12th in points allowed, 23rd in opponent redzone efficiency and 23rd in opponent pass yards per game. This will be the first of two meetings between the Colts and Jaguars, both teams competing for top spot in the AFC South. Three of the Jacksonville’s last four wins have come against teams with losing records and this week they line up against the best offense in the NFL.
Sunday’s Best Bet
Jakobi Meyers o52.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

Since the trade to Jacksonville, Meyers is averaging 61.3 receiving yards per game and 4.5 receptions per game. He’s cleared this line in just two of his four games with the Jaguars but has 6+ targets in three straight games. Meyers leads the Jaguars in targets since coming to Florida, catching 18 of his 21 targets for 245 yards and two touchdowns.
Against man coverage is where we’ve seen Meyers thrive this year. The Colts rank 10th in man coverage rate this year and Meyers has seen a 26.7% target rate against man coverage in the last four weeks, all games with Jacksonville. The Colts have struggled covering slot wide receivers this year and it’s a spot we’ve seen them give up a ton of production to.
Meyers is now on a team headed to the postseason, a team competing for top spot in their division. The receiving room is plenty crowded but Meyers has quickly developed a connection with Lawrence. This week against the Colts I’m expecting the the veteran wideout to take advantage.
