Chiefs vs. Bears: One of the more intriguing Week 3 preseason matchups kicks off at Arrowhead, where the Kansas City Chiefs host the Chicago Bears. The betting market has moved toward Chicago, now a +1.5 underdog, with the total rising to 41.5. Let’s get into my best bet between the Chiefs and Bears.

What to Expect from Both Teams
Starters from both sides are expected to see some action, giving us a glimpse of Caleb Williams against Patrick Mahomes for at least a series or two. Chicago comes in riding the momentum of a 38-0 shutout over Buffalo, while Kansas City’s defense looks to rebound after surrendering 33 points to Seattle and build some confidence on that side of the ball before the regular season.
At the end of the day, this matchup feels like it means more to Chicago. Kansas City has nothing to prove with Super Bowl expectations every season, while the Bears are focused on installing a new staff’s system and giving young players every opportunity to secure roster spots.
Bears Offensive Competition
One of those players seeking security is quarterback Austin Reed, a familiar face from last year’s “Hard Knocks.” After going undrafted in 2024, he was waived last August but stuck around on the practice squad. Now, he’s battling for a permanent spot on the roster.
Elsewhere in the Bears’ quarterback room, Tyson Bagent just signed a two-year, $10 million deal, and veteran Case Keenum is still in the mix.
Chicago’s backfield is packed with competition. Ian Wheeler impressed last week with 19 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns, while Brittain Brown added 73 yards and a score on 16 attempts. Ahead of them are D’Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, rookie Kyle Monangai, and veteran Travis Homer, though Johnson, Monangai, and Homer have all been banged up, so we’ll have to wait and see if they get any significant action tonight.
Regardless, the Bears’ offense has plenty of firepower to test a Kansas City defense that’s struggled with its backups in preseason. Head coach Ben Johnson has shown no signs of letting up with his aggressive play-calling, and I expect Chicago to keep pushing for all four quarters – something the betting market seems to be reflecting as well.
