Analysis & Breakdown

Joe Flacco

Mighty Joe Young

Joe Flacco is set to play his first game at M&T Bank Stadium since being injured against the Steelers all the way back in 2018. Flacco got hurt, Lamar entered the game and that was the end of Joe tenure as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar was still a rookie at the time but he went 6-1 as the team’s starter, averaged 159.1 pass yards per game, 79.4 rush yards per game and finished with nine combined touchdowns.

Lamar and the Ravens would lose to Philip Rivers and the Chargers in the Wild Card that year and Flacco would take his talents to Denver in the off-season. He’d play just eight games for the Broncos that year before heading to New York to spend the next three seasons with the Jets. Back in 2023, Flacco started five games for the Browns; he averaged 323.2 pass yards per game, threw 13 touchdowns and was absolutely torching defenses.

The one and only time Flacco played against the Ravens was back in 2022. Flacco was under center for the Jets and the Ravens were in town. Flacco threw the ball 59 times, recorded 309 yards through the air and finished with one touchdown and one interception. You’ve gotta think he’s looking to do the same on Sunday.

Sunday Night Meltdown

Baltimore entered the fourth quarter of their Sunday Night Game with the Bills, up 15 points. Somehow, some way; the Ravens found a way to lose. Without getting too far into the details, Baltimore’s defense ran out of gas, Derrick Henry fumbled the ball late and a mixed extra point for the Ravens cost them the chance at overtime.

This week the Ravens enter this divisional matchup with revenge on their mind. They won’t see the Bills till the postseason, so the Browns will have to do for now. Lamar threw for 209 yards in the team’s season opener, threw two passing touchdowns, ran in another and recorded 70 yards on the ground. Lamar put on a clinic but the team just couldn’t finish the ball game.

Last year, against the division; Lamar averaged 259.7 pass yards per game, threw 16 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and failed to record even a single rushing touchdown. Lamar loves playing the division and this year shouldn’t be any different.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Cedric Tillman o39.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

Cedric Tillman

Like I said, last time Flacco played the Ravens he threw the ball 59 times. It’s now three years later and Flacco’s playing for a new team, the Cleveland Browns. Flacco threw the ball 45 times against Cincinnati in Week 1, completed 68.9% of his passes, threw one touchdowns and two costly interceptions.

In Week 1, the Browns passed on 66.20% of their plays (5th) highest among all NFL Teams in Week 1. This directly correlates with how Head Coach Kevin Stefanski coached this team last year, calling pass plays on 65% of the team’s offensive snaps (1st). Cleveland was doing this last year, even with the revolving door they had at quarterback.

If Flacco’s throwing the ball 35 or more times, Cedric Tillman should have no trouble covering this line. Tillman finished Week 1 with eight targets, five receptions, 52 receiving yards and caught the team’s lone receiving touchdown. Flacco targets four different receivers 8+ times last week and this week they should once again be playing from behind.

Tillman’s cleared this line in five of his last six games, going back to last season; averaging 8.7 targets per game and
