Analysis & Breakdown

Broncos Country, Let’s Ride

The Broncos are 10-2 this year and have a laundry list of ugly wins this year. Their most recent ugly win came last week after a missed 2-point conversion attempt in overtime by the Commanders. The offense ranks 13th in points scored (23.7), 14th in pass yards, 14th in rush yards and 15th in redzone efficiency.

Box Nix is averaging 228.5 pass yards per game with 19 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions. He’s got a passer rating of 85.8 this year and he’s even scored 3 touchdowns with his legs. The Broncos defense this year has been elite. They rank 4th in points allowed (18.2), 1st in opponent redzone efficiency, 1st in opponent third down conversion rate, 1st in opponent yards per play, 1st in sacks and 1st in QB hits.

Rough Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have been one of the hardest teams to watch this year. The defense ranks 26th in points allowed (25.7), 17th in opponent pass yards, 22nd in opponent redzone efficiency and 30th in opponent third down conversion rate. Las Vegas has given up 30+ points in four of their last six games and their offense hasn’t helped.

The Raiders offense ranks 31st in points scored, 32nd in rush yards, 26th in pass yards and 30th in yards per play. The offense has cleared 20 points just once in their last six games and it’s why the team’s offensive co-ordinator had to go.

Without getting to much into it, Chip Kelly was calling playing not installed on the offense and players were forced to make the best of it. It’s resulted in one of the worst offenses we’ve ever seen and even after his firing, the team could only muster up 14 points.

Geno Smith leads the league in interceptions this year and it’s been a huge problem for the entire Raiders team. It’s resulted in points left on the field, short fields for their opponents and way too many snaps for the team’s defense.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Brock Bowers o59.5 Receiving Yards (-110) | BetOnline

Brock Bowers

Let’s get chalky. Brock Bowers is coming off a game in which he caught all 4 of his targets, two of which were for touchdowns. The kid’s been unstoppable and despite an ugly Raiders offense, he’s been the lone bright spot. Bowers has absolutely killed man coverage this year, something the Broncos run at a top five rate this year.

Against man coverage, Bowers leads all TEs in yards per route run, targets per route run and has looked great against single-hi coverage this year. The 2nd year TE is averaging 63.7 receiving yards per game this year and he’s seeing just a 21.8% target share. Of all pass catchers with Bowers’ level of talent, that’s by far the lowest target share.

Last week he saw just 4 targets and it was the 2nd time this year he’s seen fewer than 5 targets in a single game. The other time that happened was against this very Broncos team, just four weeks ago. He finished with 1 catch, 31 yards and the Raiders lost by just 3 points.

The Broncos have now given up 75+ receiving yards to the opposing TE1 in three of their last four games, the one TE that missed was Bowers. All three of those TEs were targeted 8+ times and this week if Bowers isn’t heavily involved I promise I’ll quit betting him.
