Nobody was expecting the Broncos to beat the Chiefs last week, but here we are. Denver did an excellent job at holding Kansas City out of the end zone, limiting its AFC West rival to three field goals and 4.8 yards per play.
While winning back-to-back games is impressive, it’s worth noting that the Broncos’ last two wins came at home. They’re back on the road tonight where they’ve struggled to get the job done this year.
The Broncos are 1-2 through three away contests with that lone victory coming against the lowly Bears. They were outscored 89-28 in their two road losses, which includes only mustering a measly eight points in their latest away outing on Oct. 12.
Although the Bills haven’t been played well lately, they’re still 4-1 at Highmark Stadium in 2023. They score 31.0 PPG (T-No. 4) while only surrendering 14.3 PPG (No. 5) at home — good for a plus-16.8 average scoring margin (No. 3).
Even though the Bills are just 0-5 ATS in their last five games, there are trends working in their favor. For starters, they’ve covered the spread in seven straight outings against the Broncos. Buffalo emerged victorious in five of those outings, winning by an average of 17.8 points.
On top of that, Denver owns an uninspiring 2-5-1 ATS record this season, which includes going 0-2-1 ATS on the road. The Broncos clearly aren’t a team that can consistently keep games as close as projected.
Besides, the Bills have yet to lose back-to-back games this season, going 3-0 with a plus-13 average point margin following a loss.
With the Broncos unlikely to keep their momentum going forever, I’m taking the Bills to win at home. Buffalo is due for a statement performance and if history is any indication, Denver is the perfect opponent to help make that happen.
A 7-point spread is wide, but the Bills can cover. They play some of their best football at Highmark Stadium, where they’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against the Broncos. Considering how Denver has yet to cover on the road, too, I like Buffalo winning by more than a touchdown.
