Analysis & Breakdown

Keon Coleman

Miracle at Highmark

Week 1 of the NFL was full of some the most exciting football we’ve seen in a long time. The week began with the Eagles and Cowboys on Thursday Night, followed by the Chiefs/Chargers live from São Paolo on Friday Night. Sunday began with five, one-score games in the early slate; with three of the four late games being decided by just one score.

The first Sunday of the 2025 season was capped off with an instant classic in at Highmark Stadium. The Bills hosted the Ravens and Baltimore wasted no time, scoring 17 second quarter points to take a 20-13 lead into the half. The Ravens came out flying in the second half, scoring two more touchdowns in the third quarter. The Bills went into the fourth quarter trailing the Ravens 34-19.

Everything changed in the fourth quarter. Josh Allen capped off an 84-yard drive by scrambling into the endzone, bringing the deficit to nine points. Baltimore responded with a 4-play 65-yard touchdown drive that lasted just over a minute. Henry ran it in from 46-yards out but the Raven’s rookie kicker missed the extra point.

The Bills would once again score a touchdown but it was a Derrick Henry Fumble with three minutes left that really shifted the momentum. Buffalo got the ball at the Baltimore 30-yard line and Josh Allen punched in another touchdown, but missing the crucial two-point conversion to tie the game. Buffalo got the ball back one more time and with just 90 seconds left on the clock, ball on his own 20; Allen marched his team down field and set up Matt Prater for the eventual game winning field goal.

The New York Jets came out on absolute fire last week. The team’s offense was rolling from the start but it was the play of Justin Fields that stood out the most. Fields recorded 218 yards through the air, threw one touchdown and rushed for two more. Fields completed 72.7% of his passes in Week 1, but he did only throw 22 total pass attempts.

New York looked great in the team’s debut, the offense scored 32 points and really lose because of a Chris Boswell 60-yard field goal. Tough way to lose but the Jets did everything they could to get the win. Garrett Wilson looked great in his first game back with his old college quarterback. He finished the game with seven receptions on nine targets for 95 yards and a touchdown. Wilson had a costly drop on 4th down during the team’s 2-minute drill that could have potentially flipped the script on Pittsburgh.

Head Coach Aaron Glenn was clear during training camp, this team is going to run the ball. Well, that’s exactly what they did in Week 1. The Jet’s ran the ball a total of 39 times in Week 1, they ran the ball on 67% of their plays; a significant departure from the 35% the team ran last year. Justin Fields ran the ball a total of 12 times, 10 of those being designed run plays. The Jets are committed to the run game this year.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Breece Hall o 78.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-110)

Breece Hall

Speaking of this Jets ground game, let’s talk about Breece Hall. In Week 1 the Bills gave up 169 yards on the ground to Derrick Henry, allowed him an average of 9.4 yards per carry and gave up two touchdowns. Breece Hall is not Derrick Henry but this Bills defense has struggles to stop the run. Last year Buffalo ranked 17th in rush yards allowed to running backs and dead last in receiving yards allowed to the position.

Hall was the league’s third leading rusher in Week 1, recording 109 yards on the ground and a 5.6 yards per carry average. He was also targeted four times by Justin Fields, recoding two receptions for 38 yards. In his career against Buffalo, Hall’s cleared this line in two of the four games, averaging 77.0 rushing yards, 33.5 receiving yards and 3.0 receptions per game; all while averaging just 10 rushing attempts per game.

If Hall continues to see the usage he saw in Week 1, look for him to make a statement once again this week.

Bills vs. Jets o46.5 (-105)

Josh Allen

Divisional game but between these two teams, it feels like we’re in store for more offense. Both offenses scored 30+ points last week, the Jets recorded 394 yards of total offense while the Bills had 497 yards of total offense. Both quarterbacks have the capability to make big plays and get these offenses moving in a hurry. Look for points in the AFC East matchup.
