Analysis & Breakdown

Green Bay Packers

Cheesehead Redemption

After a perfect 2-0 start to the season, the Packers have sputtered in back to back games. In Week 3 the Packers went to Cleveland to face a Browns team that’s got the best pass rush in the league. Jordan Love was sacked five times, the offense put up just 230 yards of total offense and just 10 points. The Packers never trailed in the game, that is until zeros hit the clock. The Browns battled back, scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and won the game on a walk off field goal with no time left on the clock.

Now let’s shift to their Week 4 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, one of the worst defensive teams in the league. The Packers play calling saw a dramatic shift in Week 4, the Packers attacked the Dallas secondary with Love throwing the ball a season high 43 times. He completed 72% of his passes, threw three touchdowns and no interceptions. Green Bay finished with 489 total yards of offense but this week it was their defense that let them down.

The Packers put up 40 points and still left Dallas without the win; all because they let Dak Prescott and the Cowboys run wild. The two teams finished with a 40-40 draw and now the Packers sit at 2-1-1 on the season. This week Green Bay enters the game as a double digit favorite and once again matchup with the only QB to beat them this year, Joe Flacco.

Mighty Joe Young

Well it’s not the Joe that Bengals fans want back on the field, but Joe Flacco has been named the new starter for the Cincinnati Bengals. Flacco was traded to the Bengals on Tuesday of this week and will make his first start for his new team on Sunday, in Green Bay. At the ripe age of 40, it’s no surprise Joe’s been struggling this year.

In four starts for the Browns, Flacco was averaging 203.8 pass yards per game, he’s thrown just two touchdowns and has eight total turnovers. He’s been one of the league’s worst QBs under pressure and now he’ll be behind a Bengals offensive line that’s given up 14 total sacks this year. The Bengals rank 29th in pass blocking grade and have done almost nothing to protect their quarterbacks.

This week they’ll line up against one of the fiercest pass rushes in the NFL. The Packers pass rush ranks 4th in the NFL and with Micah Parson’s on the field, they rank 2nd in pressure rate. The Bengals are giving up the 2nd highest pressure rate this year and that feels like a recipe for disaster.

Sunday’s Best Bets

Tucker Kraft 45.5 Receiving Yards | BetOnline

Tucker Kraft

This week we’re going back to Tucker Kraft. Kraft’s only cleared this line in two of his four games this year but currently leads the Packers in target share; albeit not by much. Kraft’s seen 16 targets over the last two weeks and this is while the Packers rank 29th in pass play percentage. Last week we finally saw what this offense is capable of when they get aggressive.

Tha Packers are 2-0 at home this year, with wins over both the Lions and Commanders. Green Bay scored 27 points in each game and now back at home, I’m expecting a little bit of a show for the fans. Love threw the ball 43 times last week, with Kraft catching all five of his targets for 56 yards and no touchdowns. He was third on the team in targets but a lot of that had to do with the weak Dallas secondary.

This week, the Bengals defense ranks 29th in receiving yards allowed and 29th in receiving yards allowed to the TE position. Last week we saw Sam LaPorta have his best game of the year, going for 92 yards and a touchdown. Prior to that it was T.J. Hockenson going for 49 yards and a touchdown.

The Bengals rank in the bottom two for both touchdowns and explosive plays allowed over the middle and it’s a part of the field they’ve struggled to cover. Love leads all qualifying QBs in yards per attempt and passer rating on throws between the numbers. Tucker Kraft’s been his favorite target in this area of the field, leading all TEs with 16.0 yards per reception on throws over the middle.
