Two of the best teams in the AFC give us a glimpse at a possible conference championship matchup to open things off in Week 1. The Baltimore Ravens head to Orchard Park to take on the Buffalo Bills to start the NFL season. For multiple years now, these two teams have made it to the playoffs and won plenty during the regular season, but neither have been able to get over the hump and make the Super Bowl. Is this the year either Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson finally make it to the big game? Let’s get into our favorite picks for this Week 1 contest.

Lamar Jackson leads the Ravens into Orchard Park with revenge on his mind
Neither one of these teams can seem to get past Patrick Mahomes. You can’t mention the success Allen and Jackson have had since coming into the league without speaking on the fact that neither can beat 15 in the playoffs.
Josh Allen is 0-4 against the Chiefs in the postseason, and two years ago, Lamar and the Ravens fell to the Chiefs at home in the AFC Championship. Combined the two QBs are 0-5 against Mahomes when it matters most, but Sunday they go head to head.
Buffalo has a very similar offense to last season, returning James Cook, Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. They also added Joshua Palmer to come in and be their WR3 for the season. Defensively, the Bills brought in Joey Bosa to help with their pass rush, and this was a team that was top 12 in points allowed per game last season. But can they slow down the Ravens?
Easily the scariest rushing QB/RB duo in the league, Jackson lines up with Derrick Henry still in the backfield. Mark Andrews is the TE, Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are out wide and DeAndre Hopkins is on a new team yet again. Defensively, the Ravens are one of the best in the NFL on all levels, especially with adding CB Jaire Alexander to the secondary this offseason.
Two AFC Giants go head to head, but only one can walk away with a win.

These teams have plenty of history against each other, so let’s take a look at how things have gone in head to head meetings.
In five games against each other, Josh Allen leads the head to head series over Lamar, 3-2. Plus, Allen is 2-0 against Jackson and the Ravens in the playoffs when it matters. It is worth noting, both of those games were in Buffalo.
Jackson has beaten the Bills just one time on the road, back during the 2019 regular season. Can he lead the Ravens to some successful revenge on Sunday Night Football?

Ravens vs. Bills NFL Prediction: Bills Win Outright, Under 50.5
Best Bet: Ravens/Bills Under 50.5 (-105) BetOnline
Four of the five head to head meetings between these QBs have stayed under this total listed above, and it has ticked down a single point since it’s opener. Baltimore actually opened this game getting 1.5 points, and now find themselves favored by as many.
Either the public thinks Lamar gets his revenge, or the books have shifted their power ratings of these two teams. Regardless, I think we see a low scoring affair. History is in our favor, and both defenses are loaded.
Sure, we didn’t talk much about the Bills’ defense last season, but they always step up against Lamar, holding him to just 21.4 points per game, and only 17.3 in Buffalo. Offenses might be rusty early on, but I expect defenses to dominate.
Now, the total has moved down, but I think we may see it tick back up before kickoff. Come Sunday evening, every public bettor is going to be looking at the Sunday Night Football matchup between Allen and Jackson, they’ll want to root for points, so they’ll back the over.
I’d love if we can get up to 52.5, but would still play 50.5 if that’s where this line settles. I also lean with the Bills at plus money at home and will likely sprinkle on them to end our weekend of football.
