Analysis & Breakdown

Bang Bang, Niner Gang
The Niners have wo 8 of their 12 games so far this year and still somehow sit third in their division. The NFC West is looking like the toughest division in the NFL and it’s been on full display whenever these teams go head to head. The 49ers have now won back to back, have their starting QB back under center and the offense is absolutely rolling.
Over the team’s last two games, San Francisco’s scored 61 total points, 7 total touchdowns and have converted 75% of their redzone trips into touchdowns. Defensively the team ranks 11th in points allowed, 9th in rush yards allowed but have struggled to defend the pass. The Niners rank 26th in pass yards allowed and a big reason is the lack of pass rush with Nick Bosa out for the year.
San Francisco ranks dead last in sacks, QB hits, and rank bottom five in pressure rate and tackles for a loss. Brock Purdy’s back on the field and last week was a start to forget. The Niners went home with the win but Purdy threw for just 193 yards, no touchdowns and 3 interceptions. McCaffrey finished with 142 total yards from scrimmage and 1 touchdown.
This week the Niners will head to Cleveland to take on the scariest defensive player in the NFL, Myles Garrett.
Absolute, Dog
The Cleveland Browns haven’t had a ton of things to celebrate this year, but Myles Garrett is definitely one. At the age of 29, Myles Garrett has recorded a career high 18 sacks. The Cleveland Browns have only played 11 games this year.
Garrett’s coming off a 3 sack game against the Raiders and it was his fifth multi-sack game of the year. He’s looking like the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year and he’s been the anchor to this elite Dog Pound defense. Cleveland ranks 12th in points allowed, 2nd in pass yards allowed, 3rd in yards per play and 2nd in sacks.
The Browns’ defensive line is one of the scariest in the NFL and they’ve been terrorizing opposing QBs all year. Last week the team got to Geno Smith for 10 sacks and the week prior it was Lamar Jackson for 5 sacks. The offense is still struggling, now on their third different starting QB of the year.
Shadeur Sanders wasn’t bad in his debut. He wasn’t great, but he wasn’t bad and he did enough to help his team win the game. Sanders completed just 55% of his passes for 209 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception against the Raiders. This week he faces a Niners team that’s been middle of the pack defensively, but have the capability to turn it up any given Sunday.
Sunday’s Best Bet
George Kittle o43.5 Receiving Yards (-111) | BetOnline

The Browns’ pass rush this year has been on different planet. They rank 2nd in sacks, 2nd in QB hits and sit top five in pressure rate. The team’s made it incredibly difficult for opposing QBs to develop a rhythm and it’s why I’m looking to target Kittle here this week.
The Browns play the highest rate of man coverage in the NFL this year and that’s the exact type of coverage we’ve seen George thrive against. In the team’s last two games, both with Purdy under center; Kittle’s seeing a 33% target rate against man coverage. Kittle is the highest rated receiver for the Niners this year against man coverage and it’s something that’s been a common theme throughout his career.
Purdy hasn’t handled pressure well at all this year and with Myles Garrett lurking, I’m expecting Purdy to lean on his big bodied TE a little more this week.
